Tayshaun Prince For 5th Overall Pick?

If there is any truth to this we should offer what we can to acquire this pick. I doubt the Kings even consider trading the pick for Tayshaun Prince.

Trade speculation: Pistons, Kings are possible partners

The Sacramento Kings (fifth) are interested in trading out of their draft position.

Could that interest lead them to the Pistons and Tayshaun Prince?

The Kings need a veteran small forward, and Yahoo Sports speculates that a player such as Prince could entice them into trading the pick.

The Pistons pick seventh. By moving up two spots, the Pistons could have a better chance of securing one of the draft's big men, possibly Kentucky center DeMarcus Cousins.

The Kings would also send the Pistons another player in their regular rotation.

I thought it was Tayshaun and 7 for the 5? I don't think we'd have any assets necessary, or at least not ones we'd part with. I'd offer Crawford and the 24, but I don't think they'd accept.

Nocioni doesn't count as a vet SF? I just don't get why reports keep stating the Kings are in need of a SF, do Caspi, Green and Garcia not count? I'd say they are are looking for better guard and center depth, one of which they can achieve through the draft.

Who's your target at #5?

Cousins - could be a headcase (I'm just not sure)
Monroe - could be unmotivated (I think he'll be okay)

I'm not saying no to either, just buyer beware

Tayshaun for the 5th seems like way too little for the pick. If it is Tayshaun and the 7th for the 5th it makes sense to me in that Detroit would love to shed salary and probably sees their targeted player not making it to 7. Their lineup is definitely not fitting well together.

Josh Smith or Al Horford could likely land a top 5 pick, but I don't see anyone else on the roster doing it. Marvin's stock is just way too low. Jeff Teague didn't show anything yet. Jamal Crawford doesn't exactly fit a need for them, nor has long term appeal. Joe Johnson is not under contract.
I just don't feel strongly enough about Cousins or Monroe to give up Josh or Al for that pick, but that's just my opinion.

Sac trading down seems crazy if Cousins is there. I'm actually a little surprised they aren't trying to trade up a spot(like Portland in 2006) to guarantee that they get Cousins.

If I'm Sund, I am finding out what it takes to get Cousins in our lineup.

If it takes one of Horford or Josh and the #24, I would take Nocioni and the #5.

Cousins is that kind of talent IMO. Also, better than Oden, he is a healthy 280-290.

If we acquired the 5th pick, I also like the idea of being able to flip the pick for a player that improves our team, and makes us more of a contender. For a trade to work with the Kings I believe Josh Smith would need to be involved, so to me it depends if we can flip the pick for someone better, and if we cannot I like DeMarcus Cousins as the pick.

My concerns about going with DeMarcus Cousins or any other draftee is how much it sets us back and what it means for Joe Johnson.

Al Horford to me is the one keeper we have.

I like Josh Smith, but involving him here is an idea, if the Kings are interested.

I'm probably reaching here: Josh Smith and the 24th for Jason Thompson and the 5th.

The Jason Thompson is definitely cheaper than Nocioni, but it might make it more viable to get Nocioni because the Kings might be more agreeable to rid themselves on his last 3 years on that contract.
Nocioni also gives us an option at the 3 as well; I have seen what I need to see out of Marvin for the $$ that he is costing the organization. One career year out of 5 to get that contract.

And I agree; I give up JS over AH first if that is an option, but if it takes AH to get the #5, I have to seriously consider it.

Well you guys seem a lot more sold on Demarcus Cousins than me. I can't argue with the logic though. Our roster is flawed by the previous GM ignoring the hardest to fill and most important positions on the court in building the team. Josh is exciting, but even I question whether he's a championship level winner. I'd love to see him with another coach first, but sometimes you have roll the dice. If something went down I'd really prefer Jason Thompson to Andres Nocioni. Nocioni is like Marvin in that he makes too much to play the role that SF occupies here without being a defensive stopper. He's just a crafty veteran version of the overpaid role player in that spot.

It appears the Kings have reached a deal with Philly that involves Andres Nocioni.

Samuel Dalembert
for
Andres Nocioni
Spencer Hawes

Does SAC getting Dalembert mean Cousins is sliding or that MINN is definitely going to draft him before SAC?

What am I missing? This seems to me to be a really dumb trade on PHI's part. Dalembert is an expiring, after all. The contract alone has more value than that.

And then to take on Nocioni's contract...

Spencer Hawes is still young and has a very promising future. Doug Collins should be a good teacher for him and help him have a better understanding for the game.

Andres Nocioni will possibly be traded again.

Samuel Dalembert seems to be a cancer, lacks passion, and Philly needed to cut ties with him.

The trade actually makes sense for me. PHI is stuck with Brand anyways, and Evan Turner won't be a true star for a few years. They make the trade so that 3 years from now, Nocioni and Brand become expirings which they can flip for pieces while building around Holliday/Turner, and maybe Hawes if he ever develops into anything.

Sacramento is going to have a pretty good core of young players if they pick Cousins.
