Richard Jefferson opts out of his 15.2M contract. Some teams just get lucky. That get a do over on a failed move and probably don't have to trade Parker now.

Shocking.

As crazy as it may sound it was possibly the right move to make and he'll possibly make more during the long run. Teams may just believe it was a bad fit in San Antonio, but I expect RJ to come out on top.

He is trying to get locked in for a few years here from a team he hasn't played for yet........I guess?

I am shocked as well. Jefferson could head to the Clippers if they strike out with the big names?

Jefferson has been overrated and overpaid his whole career, he is just a product of Jason Kidd

i wouldn't even say that..... Marvin's defense is alot better than Jefferson's, but offensively, they both have their short comings

Jefferon's defense sucks now...but he was a better defender/rebounder and far more athletic than Marvin was when he was 24.

Jefferson has strong drive and poor measurables. Marvelous' measurables are through the roof. His drive -- I'm not sure. I'm still holding out for the theory that's his problem was Woodson's offense, which stuck him in the corner.

Still, if Marvelous has Smoove's drive...

Richard Jefferson doesn’t have a deal with the San Antonio Spurs and would prefer to return to the New York area to play for the Knicks or Nets, league sources told Y! Sports.

Jefferson is seeking a multiyear contract that averages in the range of $8 million-$10 million, sources said. He opted out of the $15 million final season of his contract with the Spurs on Tuesday.

Jefferson has built a good relationship with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, but doesn’t think the team’s system best fits his skills.

The Spurs could still try to sign Jefferson to a contract that lowers their luxury-tax hit, depending on what other options they find in free agency. Link
