WILL SHAQ BE INTERESTED IN PLAYING HERE?

Post#1 » by CALPURNIA » Sun Jul 4, 2010 9:50 pm

I believe this subject has been talked here before.
I know he wants to play is NJ or any other place where he can get a tittle. Nobody is talking about him, but he can change teams this summer too.
Will Shaq be able to play here for a limited amount?

Joe Johnson somehow needs recruit him to come to Atlanta. I would start him as center, move Horford at 4, Josh at 3 & Marvin on the bench.

He would be nice. He would give us a big body to pair against the Dwight Howards out there.

ok, Now it offical this is what we should do.

I like the ideal for bring in shaq. He's 38 I think he could play for 2 - 3 years and be effective. Than s&T j chills to washington for maybe JaVale McGee and/or Al Thornton. And try our best to unload
Marvin and Bibby. I'd also would like to sign Shaun Livington to put in the mix with Teague.

Not happening, we don't have the cap now since we wasted money on Joe.

We didn't have cap space before Joe.

We still have the mle, and Shaq is not going to get more than the mle from a team in the playoffs.

We still have the mle

The Hawks had the MLE the last 2 years and chose not to use it. We'll see.

Maybe it's the point that won't make it happen.
Since Drew said he wants Josh near the basket, I don't think he wants any system with Josh at SF.
I see only one case where it would be a possibility
, but it doesn't work with Shaq : Brad Miller, because the guy is ready to box out and allow PF and SF to take easier rebounds, and more than that, he has a mid-range game that allow the spread the floor, move opponent C, and have your SF playing near the basket.
Shaq doesn't allow that on offense.

If they want to win, they don't have to see it like "unload Marvin and Bibby only", even if they are not at the best trade value they could be, they have one.
I don't care to unload for nothing now they choose to spend.
Marvin brought nothing very interesting, but Bibby was often on the floor when the team was at his best, even when the opponent PG is shinning.
The problem was the switching defense, if there is not so much of switch, Bibby can work in a team defense, it just needs to set it right. PHX did it enough with Nash, when they try to defend more to make a run.
And we don't ask him to lead the team for 40min.

Better trade Marvin, Crawford because of his value and Zaza before Bibby.

At least it is more or less "official" we are looking for a center.

I'd love Haywood for C, especially at MLE level...but I think Dallas will pay him more and so will NY or another team with cap space.

Shaq would be great, great addition. We could totally limit his minutes and use him as necessary against big teams...we'll see.

It should be easy to acquire Shaq IF Lebron leaves Cleveland. It would be a S&T for Marvin Williams with a salary for Shaq of 2yr/15M. If Lebron returns to Cleveland I think Shaq may return to Cleveland.
