Hawks Retired Numbers; Does Joe Join Them

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Jul 6, 2010 3:05 am

If Joe Johnson is here for the length of his contract, what type of numbers would he need to produce to have his number 2 raised to the rafters? He would have put in 11 years of service with this team, is currently a 4x All-Star, and currently has 12,316 career points. I expect him to accomplish it baring any major injuries.

I'd say he'd need to at least Maintain something around 20, 5, 5 for the rest of his contract plus be the best player on a Hawks team that reaches the NBA finals or multiple competitive Eastern Conference Finals challenges.

Good luck Joe.

Take us to a conference finals. Definitely if it's an NBA finals. If not then stay within 25%-30% of his current production over the first 4 years of his contract and be a serviceable and inspirational vet over the last two.

Your expectations are very high.

I think it happens if Joe continues to average 20ppg and becomes an All-Star a few more times.

Maybe they're a tad high, but we're talking absolute elite company here. I was probably thinking he could add around 2 points to his scoring average, while maintaining the other numbers, so 22, 5, 5.

- Add a couple of All-Star appearances to his current total.
- Be part of the Hawks' who make their 1st appearance in an EC FInals ever.
- FInish in the Top 3 for all-time Hawks scorers.

A few more game winners probably helps his campaign.

Joe is only known for scoring, so it is all about the points and the future success of this team while he is here.
