Hawks Just Don't Get It...Shaq should retire a Hawk!
Still overly concerned about money, an anonymous Hawks official claims interest in Shaq - they still don't "get it". You don't wait Shaq out! You don't make the same stupid mistakes you made with Childress. Shaq is a game-changer - you are either in or out!
Maybe word around the league is that Shaq is a pain in the ass. Maybe he is out of shape. Maybe he is done.....maybe, maybe, maybe.
Shaq is 7'3, 350lbs. and has a ring for every finger. 38 yrs. old is not ancient for a HOF big. Russell, Kareem, Malone, Chamberlain played as long as they wanted to and were effective. There is not a better match for both Shaq or the team.
When I hear the anonymous Hawks official talking about PR value, it makes me sick to my stomach. How about championship value? You are a 5th-6th seed with a doughnut in the middle. They are not mentally or physically tough. They don't know how to win in the playoffs. And they have no low post game whatsoever...Shaq fixes all this!
Waiting on Shaq to sign a $1.9M bi-annual exception or veteran's minimum is foolish. You want the big guy happy and motivated to take this young team to the Finals! Why are you bickering about starting, minutes or salary? Al Horford is the only All-star on the team??? Shaq can't be effective for 40min. anymore, we all know that - that's a red herring. An honorary start and finish resolves that - this is about money!
No, it doesn't make sense to trade Marvin to the Cavs, but it does for ZaZa. If not, you are basically saying ZaZa is better than Shaq. Not now, not in the future, not ever will ZaZa be better than Shaq. Or trade Bibby to the Cavs for Shaq. Throw in Mo Evans too.
As a franchise, we should be honored to have Shaq spend his last years in the Phipp. And the last thing we need is Rick Sund playing hard ball and losing again. This guy has options, his time is worth more than $1.9M. He can make reality shows for more than $2M, he can go to Europe, Japan and be a hit.
Why not here in the ATL? So, Sund can sit back and smirk about how much he didn't pay a guy that we really needed while we get pounded in the as by 30ppg in the playoffs?
They just don't get it...if they can't find $5M for Shaq, then they don't want anymore of my money. THAT'S FOR SURE...
