Forgetting CP, What about Smoove to OKC?
Could anybody here get into a Smoove to OKC for Nick Collison, Jeff Green and Cole Aldrich? First of all, the deal works on both ESPN's Trade Machine and RealGM's Trade Checker.
They get the best player, so the old NBA adage says they'd win the trade, but we get a good backup center and PF in Collison, a good starter/backup in Green and a solid prospect at center in Aldrich. Aldrich has the body and game to be a better Kendrick Perkins.
Plus, with Zaza, Aldrich and Collison playing center, Horford can play PF, perhaps increasing our chances of keeping him.
What say ye?

Maybe if Serge Ibaka was involved with Jeff Green. Your proposal worries me because of the lack of "sure thing" in the return we get and Jeff Green won't fill some of the holes Josh Smith does. I'd want Jeff Green at the 3, so Marvin would need to be moved.
•A trade that involves Jeff Green & Serge Ibaka for Josh Smith.
•Shaq S&T to us along with a future first (via Miami) for Marvin Williams.
Shaq/ZaZa/Serge Ibaka
Al Horford
Jeff Green
Joe Johnson/Jamal Crawford
Jeff T/Mike Bibby

Eh... I'm not a huge fan. Ibaka would need to be in the trade. Aldrich really isn't a "prospect," he's pretty much Pryzbilla 1.5. Not a huge fan of that Shaq S&T either. My moves if we're moving Smoove to OKC:
Josh Smith, Mike Bibby
for
Serge Ibaka, Jeff Green, Eric Maynor, Nick Collison, BJ Mullens, Cole Aldrich
Ibaka/Aldrich/Mullens
Horford/Collison/Powell
Marvin/Green
Joe/Jamal/Jordan
Teague/Maynor
Even then I'd be kinda 'meh' on it.

It's F-ing Sam Presti! We won't get that much value for Josh Smith from OKC and it's not like they're going to accept Mike Bibby.

Then I don't see why we'd do the deal. Smoove has more potential and talent than any of those guys, and he's already better than any of them.

horrible trades.
doesnt make a real improvement in the short term. and it screws the hawks in the long term, because smith has the most potential out of the group to become a very good player and its not like the hawks can go out and sign a top tier allstar. so they pretty much have to pray smith or al become one.

You left out Aldrich, who I think would be a good fit beside Horford. And I wanted Green at the 3, as well, but not in order to move Marvelous (his trade value isn't high enough to move -- he's more valuable to us than anybody else). I want Green AND Marvelous; move Mo Evans, instead. I'd love 48 minutes of those 2.

I think Aldrich has potential offensively and defensively. I think he'll be a solid pro for years. Think Perkins with an offensive game.
Forgive me for stating the obvious but we do not have a true center. I'm a huge fan of Horford and he's proven his doubters wrong who said he couldn't play the 5 but he'd be so much better at PF.

Re: Forgetting CP, What about Smoove to OKC?
The problem with acquiring Jeff Green is that he will be up for an extension. With Horford at the exact same stage you risk losing one given the ASG's financial situation. You may as well select different players or try for a 3 team deal if you are just getting a rental player out of Josh.
On the positive side, the trade would make it easier for me to become an OKC fan leaving the ASG and Hawks behind.

Re: Forgetting CP, What about Smoove to OKC?
I think if we ever actually did parson's initial trade, I would probably just stop watching Atlanta for a few years and I'd become an OKC fan. I have nothing against trading Smoove, but if the package we get back is Green, Aldrich, and Collison, I'd feel so betrayed I don't think I could watch this team anymore.
I mean, I'm a New Yorker - born and grew up in New York, and I used to followed the Knicks casually. And then Isiah happened, and Dolan and Isiah basically destroyed that team's future not because of a gamble, but because they just were so incompetent and they didn't give a damn. I started following the Hawks after they beat the Knicks during the 13 win season, and never looked back.
This trade is basically Isiah-Dolan bad.

Doesn't anybody else look at our lineup without Smoove in it feel that it looks weak? Eventhough Smoove gives us so many headaches i just can't fathom him not on our team. He is too valuable at only 24yrs. old with still tons of upside and he is already a helluva player still learning.

Ouch! I was just trying not to be a homer.
Sorry, I have centers on the brain. I wanted to try for Lopez when he came (a mid-range 1st shouldn't have been hard to trade for) and I really want Cousins (Smoove for a 5th overall pick should have worked). Now I'm reduced to lusting after Aldrich.

Re: Forgetting CP, What about Smoove to OKC?
By the way, if SAC would (they probably wouldn't now), we could offer Smoove for Cousins next week. Since they're under the cap, the deal could be one-for-one, saving us more than $8 million, which we could use - partially - to get Shaq at no additional cost to the ASG.

OKC has arguably the best GM in the league, there is no way they make a trade without coming out ahead.
