Why don't we sign Delonte?

Talented player who plays good wing defense who will let us troll LeBron four times as hard when we play him 4 times a year?

He can probably be had for the vet's minimum.

I think trading Bibby and signing West to compete for the starting pg job would have been smart...but that ship may have sailed. The Hawks aren't a great destination for the minimum unless we are offering him a chance to start.

I'd worry about chemistry (bipolar, the mother thing, the weapons, etc). Honestly I'd rather have Patty Mills as a guard or a big than Delonte.

Too many small guards, signing him would pretty much eliminate Jordan's minutes and he can't flex at the 3.

Kind of sad to see all the cheap quality 2guard options that have been out there......pretty much making that Joe contract look worse and worse to me.

I was thinking the same thing when I read an article on top free agents left (half were SGs).

I'd easily give him the 3.5 million of the MLE the hawks can spend before hitting the luxury tax. I think he would be the starting PG by the end of the season.

Okay, I like Delonte, but let's not get carried away here. Delonte has never been a true PG, much less a starting caliber one.

He was Cleveland's starting pg in 2008.

? No he wasn't, Mo Williams started all of 08. Delonte is a SG.

The 2007-2008 season.

Well, their other guards that season were Larry Hughes, Boobie Gibson, Devin Brown, Shannon Brown and the corpse of Eric Snow. That's not so much "Delonte is a PG" as "Cleveland has a bunch of scrub SGs and no PGs."

You don't need a pure PG will you have a ball dominant wing player.

True, but that ball dominant wing player needs to be able to create for others and cause the defense to collapse on itself, something that Joe Johnson can't do.

There is absolutely no way the ASG brings in anyone who will threaten the core.

Write it down, the only prospects coming here are guys who won't make waves, and won't threaten anyone for a starting slot.

Marvin has it made the next 3 years. The 30th best SF can rest easy.
Zaza and Bibby remain relevant on this roster.
E#2 can come in, play a couple of hours and go back home without any conflict or pressure to say anything to lead this team in any way.
Smoove can continue to take plays off and not be threatened with less PT.

It is so obvious and we have been taken here for backing a program that isn't serious about being the best in the any conference, league, fantasy world, anything. All they care about is turning a tidy profit and sitting in the front row when the Heat and Lakers put us in the national spotlight.

Dwight Howard is just thanking the Lord for not forcing him to play here for this ownership group.
