The Dominican Al Horford said Saturday that the upcoming NBA season will play more as a power forward with the Atlanta Hawks at center and not as in previous years.
"El nuevo coach Mike Drew me ha dicho que quiere que yo juegue como 'power forward' en la próxima temporada y no tanto como pívot. Creo que eso me puede convenir mucho como jugador porque eso es lo que he sido toda mi vida", dijo Horford a la AP durante un campamento de baloncesto que organizó para niños dominicanos de entre 12 y 17 años de edad. "The new coach Mike Drew told me he wants me to play as a 'power forward' in the next season rather than at center. I think that I can agree on a lot as a player because that's what I've been all my life," Horford told The Associated Press during a basketball camp organized for Dominican children between 12 and 17 years of age.

El jugador de tres años de experiencia en la NBA dijo que organizar este tipo de eventos era un sueño que tenía desde hace mucho tiempo. The player of three years of experience in the NBA said that organizing such events was a dream I had for a long time.
"Cuando yo era joven y crecía jugando baloncesto siempre quise participar en un campamento como éste, pero nunca vinieron (jugadores de la) NBA al país. Ahora yo puedo hacerle realidad el sueño a muchos jóvenes", agregó. "When I was young and grew up playing basketball I always wanted to participate in a camp like this, but never came (players) NBA to the country. Now I can make the dream of many young people," he said.

Wonderful.
Except for the fact that we don't have a center.

Re: Al Horford Will Get More Time At Power Forward
Call me crazy but I think that Josh Smith will play more at C next year as well as Zaza maybe seeing more minutes off the bench.
As far as Shaq goes, I don't think he was ever really a possibility meaning that I don't think he had any intention of playing here for the minimum and I don't think the ASG wanted to pay him the bigger bucks he initially wanted. As for Whiteside or any other 2nd round C prospect, I believe there is a disconnect between the front office/ownership and the coaching staff on ideas/plans/evaluations. Cash now was more valuable to the team than an inexpensive C to develop (which is sad), but in their defense (sort of) they were able to spend more than anyone to resign Joe.

If Zaza sees more minutes I might actually throwup.
He is such a liability on the court. He can't play defense and kills the team with his "picks" which are just moving screens.

Does really matter if they still have Josh Smith next to him?? I always felt they need to trade one of the two while their value is still high and can get a high value player in return that fills a hole.

Sign Josh Boone while he is still out there.
if Drew is serious about having Al playing more PF, I think that Marv (or Smoothe trade) should worry a bit.
Who knows, maybe they are planning on trading for a C: Kaman or else..., Paul and Okafor...
In the meantime, sign Boone to play behind zaza and Al!

what is wrong with Boone? All we need is someone to rebound and protect the paint on the defense side of the ball. does he do those things

Al Horford to me is the one keeper that we have and that needs to be part of our team for the next decade. Some of you like Josh Smith better, but if I had to pick, Al Horford would be mine, and our management will possibly have to end up trading one of them.
How is Josh as far as team chemistry goes?
If you look our roster you'll notice we have a lack of size. Our management passed on drafting a big and the only new face we signed is Josh Powell.

Re: Al Horford Will Get More Time At Power Forward
Josh Boone is an awesome guy who's been dealt a rough hand by having to play for the Nets the past 4 years through all the turmoil (specifically this past season with Kiki coaching - what a mess). He's probably one of the nicest, down to earth, humble guys in the entire league. You'll never hear a bad word uttered about him. He may be a little shy and quiet, but hes a great team player. The best part, as a fan, about him being so humble is that you know he's always going to continue to work hard to improve and not just sit back and collect a check. Considering he ranked 27th in the league in rebounds this past year and barely got an consistent playing time is a testament to his work ethic and skill set. Whichever team gets Boone is going to be VERY happy! And the Nets will continue to suck cause they have no clue what theyre doing...

Re: Al Horford Will Get More Time At Power Forward
You know who should be traded between Smoove and Al?
The one who gives you the most bang for the current bucks, and IMO, its Al. His next contract probably supercedes Smoove in every way despite a new CBA.
Chances are it probably gets done before the new CBA agreement and the ASG might not be the one signing the check.
We have had 2 PFs of talent for 3 years now....can't we figure out how to swap value for value?

Your answer is in this thread. We talk about trading one of either Smoove or Horford and an ORL fan comes on to offer GORTAT (whom Zaza has trashed in the playoffs and - now - in Europe).
When you need to trade, no one offers you value.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Thrashed?
Game 1:
ZP: 12 pts (50%)/ 7 rbs/ 1 ast
Gortat: 9pts (66%)/ 6 rbs/ 2 ast
Game 2:
ZP: 0 pts (no FGs attempted)/0/0/0 (on 7 minutes of play)
Gortat: 2 pts (100%)/ 2 rbs/ (on 8 minutes of play)
Game 3:
ZP: 2 pts (33%)/ 3 rbs/ 0 ast (22 mins)
Gortat: 2 pts (50%)/ 6 rbs/ 1 ast (9 mins)
Game 4:
ZP: 6 pts (66%)/ 6 rbs/ 1 ast (17 mins)
Gortat: 3 Pts (100%)/ 1 rbs (7 mins)
He's gotten the better of him a few times, but now you're just being ridiculous. And Gortat's defense is superior, but I didn't mean Gortat/Smith straight up anyway. Just one centered around him. You could definitely argue that Gortat had the better series, considering he got similar production on less than half the playing time.

I don't think Orlando could realistically offer a package with Gortat for Smith that Atlanta would accept.

Fair enough, just wanted to see what you guys thought about it.
