The move makes sense. I hope Josh can walk the walk. He's saying the right things but on the court is where the verdict will be rendered. I believe that if he plays with consistent effort and without the whining while maintaining shot discipline that he'd rapidly become one of the most popular players in the league. He's already got highlight moves and defensive impact.

Out of the three, Al Horford is the one that has true leadership qualities, but I understand why Joe Johnson and Josh Smith are also captains.

I agree that Al is the natural captain/leader, but I think it is a good gamble to see how more responsibilities affects Josh.

I wonder when will a player with no good game be named captain of a team.
And, also, three captains?

What responsibilities fall on Josh now? I didnt know being a captain really meant anything. Even if it does, im sure Al will assume the major role over those 2 guys.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

I want to see how Josh responds. He does have some decent leadership qualities: he typically plays at a very high level of intensity and is EXTREMELY competitive. The key for him is not to let his once commonplace (but last season only occasional) outbursts get in the way of his teammates respecting him as a captain.

Joe is the antithesis of a leader. But I understand why he is given the title of captain as he is our best player.

For me, more concerning than Josh's outbursts are his occasional pouting sessions. You know the ones where he goes from the most intense Hawk to an aloof guy who seems troubled to even run the floor. If he makes an effort to eliminate those times because they are poor examples to set for teammates then it will be worth it.
