I like it for us. If Teague is ready, then he can fill the role of JC1 and is prolly in a better position to fill that role than playing major minutes @ PG (which he'd have to be if we are to go forward as the team is currently constructed). Even if Przybilla doesn't play, shedding Bibby's salary next year means we can use our MLE next year (well... maybe).

I don't think it makes much sense for POR though. They've already added Wesley Mathews to their G rotation this offseason, so forth adding both Bibby and JC1. This is on top of Roy, Eliot Williams, Armon Johnson, Bayless, Fernandez (?), and Patty Mills. They might trade Miller as an expiring, but I couldn't see them taking on 2 vets in the back court for him and Przybilla.

I think the window for trading Bibby+saving money in the process closed once NY signed Felton and Indy traded for Collison.

There's still Charlotte... we could do a Bibby-Nazr swap.

We could also send Bibby to Sac for a TPE and maybe a conditional 2nd.

Eh, I think someone would take Bibby @ the trade deadline, and we'd be willing to move him if Teague (and JC2) shows out. He's a veteran who start an O and hit the 3. I don't think we'd get a great haul or anything, but there should be a team that would throw an expiring + a 2nd for him.

A deal to throw out there: IND trades Ford + D Jones + a 2nd for Bibby + Mo Evans (prolly cut) + one of our vet mini C's (Powell/Collins/Thomas) @ the deadline
IND makes a push for the playoff by filling holes @ backup PG and C depth for a 2nd and 2 unwanted salaries. After Teague proves he's deserving of some more minutes, we feel comfortable giving Ford 10-15 minutes per in a shot @ remaking his NBA career. We're OK with taking on D Jones as a end of rotation defensive wing since we're also cutting Bibby's salary.

Dahntay Jones is owed another $5mil over the next two years.

I realize that, but he's not a bad play for his salary. This year he makes the same as Evans. After this year, he would still make less in 2 years than what Bibby makes in 1. On the court, he gives us someone to throw @ players like D-Wade, LeBron, Wall, and Wallace. Evans is getting a little long in the tooth and his play definitely declined last year. Jones is 2 years younger than Evans and brings more to the table on D (and it's getting close on O - more due to Evans' decline than anything Jones has done though).

Look @ it this way: In the short term, he's an upgrade on Evans. In the long term, he's a fairly cheap (> $3 mil) veteran alternative to Pape Sy as a wing defender. Even if Sy does turn into something next season or the year after, Jones could still be a decent trade piece since he'd be a veteran role player on a fairly cheap and short contract.

The bigger problem with dealing with Indiana is that they are hoping to land a big which isn't what the trade suggests. Swapping PGs and Wings does little to entice them.

How valuable is a wing player in a 15 mpg role that can't shoot?

Yeah, there are a couple of assumption here. It's a deadline deal, so we'd have to be willing to give Teague 30+ mins and IND would have to be willing to take on some salary next season for a playoff push this one (which in turn would mean that their bigs are doing at least OK). Not out of the ?, but not really completely plausible either... it was just something to throw out there.

OK, I'll bite: how valuable is Mo Evans? Eh, prolly a little harsh... As valuable as cheap insurance to a draft pick who didn't see time with a 2nd division French team? Yeah, I can see that...

Mo Evans can shoot 3s and plays competent defense.

Not from what I saw last year. His D was OK, but not nearly as aggressive as I saw the season before; his shooting definitely took a hit to the point where I think that I'd be happier with Marvin or a 2x covered JJ taking the shot than him. Sure, maybe it was just an off season and maybe he'll get back to what I saw in him his 1st year with us, but he's closing in on 32 and was only a journeyman at best type guy anyway.

He didn't shoot well from outside last year, but he was actually more efficient than the first year we had him.

In any case I don't see why that Indy deal is better than swapping for Nazr.
