Seems like everybody is concern about the Hawks cap situation, with Horford's extension, Josh's trade speculations, and Jamal expiring contract.
i think everybody wants to see Jamal come back, Josh is the most important player for the Hawks, and Horford brings a swagar to the team, so as much as i like Marvin and love his cheap contract, i would much rather have Jamal stay over Marvin
i think it would be better for the Hawks to find a Marvin trade for cap and resign Crawford this summer, and with Bibby coming off the books in 2012, the Hawks can get into good financial position.

I wouldn't complain if that's the direction that we went, but I don't see it. First, almost all of JC1's and even Mo Evans' contracts will be used up for raises - including Horford's. So even if you can offload Marvin, you'd have to fit JC1 and whatever we'd need to replace Marvin and Evans (prolly 2 cheap SF's) into Marvin's cap slot. Without looking @ the numbers, that'd mean that JC1 resigns for approximately MLE $$ - I don't see that.
2nd, I think Marvin still gets underrated. He shouldn't have been the #2 overall pick that year, no, but he does brings some things to the floor that we need. He can D up and typically takes the opposing teams better wing player - at least for the beginning parts of the game. He generally has a size and/or athleticism advantage over his guy and can help with our undersized front court with rebounding. He also seems to be taking to LD's scheme and coaching. Marvin is a nice fit next to our core as a "glue" guy who does the things that don't show up as much in the box score, but they match up well with our core guys' weaknesses.

Marvin is 6 years younger and plays a position we have less depth in. He is a significantly better rebounder and defender. He also has significantly less value around the league due to having not really proved anything to justify his contract.
Going forward, any potential we have for being a truly elite team would mostly fall on internal development. Marvin has far more room to grow at 24 than Jamal does at 30.
