If Portland was willing to accept Joe Johnson for Brandon Roy would you do it? With Brandon Roy you have to take into consideration his knees and with Joe Johnson you have to take into consideration his contract.
Brandon Roy:
$13,520,500
$14,940,153
$16,359,805
$17,779,458 (Player Option)
$19,199,110 (Team Option)
Joe Johnson:
$16,324,500
$18,038,573
$19,752,645
$21,466,718
$23,180,790
$24,894,863

Roy is gonna need to miss games with his knees. They might give him games off on back to backs and a lot of others ones. It sounds as if hes gonna slow down considerably. Tough question. Give me JJ.

I could see why some wouldn't do it....but I definitely would.

Eh.... I wouldn't do it, but it took me a while to think about it. Ultimately, there are several reasons I wouldn't:
- Continuity. Yes, we've been stuck in the 2nd round two years running now - but I think everyone else has adapted to how Joe plays and to take him out and put in Roy who has different strengths and weaknesses and tendencies would mess things up.
- Joe is pretty durable. Roy isn't.
- Joe Johnson's deterioration with age won't nearly be as bad as Roy's deterioration due to having bone-on-bone contact in a high impact sport. Having an overpaid old player isn't nearly as bad as having an overpaid player who you never know if they'll ever be able to play again. At least the overpaid old player might get traded to a contender that needs to get over the hump, like Cleveland tried with Shaq.

If I'm going to tie up capspace then I rather overpay the guy who's going to be more than mediocre for everygame of the season than the guy who will be great for a couple games and then on the bench getting treatment for the rest of the season.

Roy is just as selfish as JJ and has rotten kness. I wouldn't even consider a trade at this point.

Wait wait... You guys would do a Johnson for Hamilton? Would you guys do a Johnson for Hamilton? Smaller contract, not injured, and can produce and play.

realgm Hawk fans might, but Hawks fans in general and management would never trade Joe unless it's for a top 10 player.

Roy and Joe might have bad contracts....but Hamilton is just flat out bad irregardless of his contract.

Dear Pistons Fans,
Your GM held on to Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton too long. They have very little trade value at this point outside of Prince being an expiring contract.
Sincerely,
Someone tired of being asked about trades

Roy easily and it's been that way for several years now.
