Would we trade Joe to the Thunder?

Before I even start to argue whether OK would accept this deal (right now, I'm thinking they'd have to), I want to know if we think WE'D do it. The deal is:

Joe for
Cole Aldrich/Daequan Cook/Jeff Green/Serge Ibaka/Byron Mullens.

The #s work; DOES THE TALENT WORK?

We'd get a solid center prospect in Aldrich and a good bench prospect in Mullens .... Green and Ibaka would be great off the bench .... and the Crawford twins could take care of SG for us.

PLUS, we save about $5 million immediately. We could probably afford to keep Jamal (and Green, if we wanted to) while staying under the LT. We'd at least be close.

Well OKC would say hell no to that deal but for us it doesn't make sense because all of Serge, Aldrich and Green would be low minute backups behind Al/Smoove.

We play our bench a good bit. If you take Zaza/Horford/Smoove/Marvelous together, you still have a little under 32 minutes left per game. Green and Ibaka would be terrific in those minutes and Aldrich could be groomed for more later.

From a talent perspective I would, as well as a financial perspective, but I don't think I'd do the deal due to fit.

Marvin: SF/PF
Green: SF/PF
Smoove: PF/SF
Horford: PF/C
Ibaka: PF/C
Aldrich: C
Zaza: C
Mullens: C

If you had a trading partner lined up I'd be interested, particularly if they were offering a legitimate PG, but otherwise I'd pass.

They would laugh so hard at that trade proposal.

OKC would never even consider a trade for Joe....especially if they have to give up Ibaka. I can't see any team taking on Joe's massive contract outside of Dallas or New York(and thats if they dont get Melo 1st).

id trade joe for an expiring contract and filler. his contract was a mistake. not even the best player on the team anymore.

Joe's not the type of player a team trades half a roster for (OKC laughs at the offer), but I'm willing to suspend reality and just evaluate talent like you asked:

1 undersized PF who might be able to play SF who entering free agency and likely to cost more to retain than I believe he's worth.
1 throw away SG who may be able to play spot minutes off the bench
3 young bigs all in theory still developing and all on rookie deals.

It'd be worth it to jettison the huge contract and get that many shots at developing an serviceable NBA center, but until we reinvest Joe's salary in a replacement backcourt we wouldn't be a better team than we are now.

BTW, Joe wouldn't be attractive to a team like OKC as his peak is unlikely to coincide with other players in the roster meaning the team would be unlikely to have a magic season and probably come up short in the west throughout the entire length of his deal.
