NO. Holding Greg Oden's rights only gives you the ability to pay him the QO next year which is $9M. That's more than he'd get on the open market given his injury state. If you want to try Greg Oden, I suggest a thorough presentation of how we plan to help him recover from microfracture issues and a reasonable offer. The team most likely to be able to do that is Phoenix which has the track record of resurrecting injured athletes. If your not lining up to pay the 9M, then you are just dumping Marvin Williams for an expiring contract. If you desperately want out his salary then I could see a dump, but surely there's another expiring contract deal out there that might help this season a little.
