Better yet, they need Geoff Petrie to acquire a more conventional point guard – or a player whose skills would better complement those of Evans – and accelerate the learning process. (The Kings are aggressively pursuing a move and reportedly have inquired about Atlanta's Jeff Teague and Houston's Aaron Brooks, among others, though team officials declined to comment on the speculation.)

Re: Jeff Teague to Sacramento? (Rumor)
It was talked about here and on the T&T board. The rumor was that SAC offered Jason Thompson for a package that was headlined by Teague. We declined. Outside of the positional issues (who'd be our backup PG? Either Crawford? No...), I'd still think it's a bad deal since I don't really think that Thompson will be anything more than a #4 big.
Now, if the deal were expanded, then the new pieces could change my opinion...

I'm willing to make this Thompson trade, the Hawks are very weak in the paint. They need any kind of player that can come in and snatch some rebounds and just create some kind of havoc. Josh Smith has abandoned the inside mindset of his game. He hasn't had 1 block since Indiana, Horford needs help severely.

I wish the Hawks could make a play for Brooks.

I expect our organization to keep Jeff Teague and decide to move him once he has no value. I like John Thompson, but he's an underachiever, and he's not the weapon inside that we need.

I wish we could have Martin+Battier+Scola+Miller for less than 30M instead of Joe+Marvin+Smith+Zaza for 40M. I think it would be less frustrating.

But is Jason Thompson that help? I mean right now he would likely be our 5th big (behind Smith, Horford, Zaza, and probably Powell).

Re: Jeff Teague to Sacramento? (Rumor)
Even if I am not for this trade, at least only Teague for Thompson, I don't see him being our 5th big. He would be on the same level than Zaza, so 3rd or 4th.
But I am not sure it's the best option for this team.
Do we really need another 3rd/4th option ? I don't think so. The best would be a real 3rd option, better than both Zaza and Thompson.
Actually, the best way would be a three-way trade, with Teague to SAC, Zaza and Thompson on a third team or fourth team, and a better big than Zaza or Thompson for ATL.
And we have to be sure that Teague can't help us making better trade.
For example, if Teague can be a interesting part for DAL combined with Joe, we better not trade him now just for Thompson.

Re: Jeff Teague to Sacramento? (Rumor)
If Jeff Teague is going to play this much, anybody that comes here is an addition. Thompson is not a 5, but he is 6-11 and young and could play alongside Horford to reinforce the paint. Zaza can do whay he can do and no more.
Obviously, if Teague is gone, we would need another point guard and, may be, get rid of either zaza, Collins or Powell.
Anyway, what is the point in bringing a big if he is going to be used randomly just as Powell is. For example, agains New York, he comes out, hit a jumper, gets a couple of rebounds and screens out his man and he is headed to the bench when the 1st half ends for not returning.

But Thompson is more of a PF like Al, and even if he would come just behind Al and Josh, we better need a real C to split the 48min like that:
16min Al/Josh
16min C/Josh
16min C/Al
If we trade for Thompson, we need to keep Zaza, and it would require to play Josh more at SF, maybe half of his playing time, so better trade Marvin or at least Evans.
It would also be harder to balance the team, more than if Thompson was a real C.

Re: Jeff Teague to Sacramento? (Rumor)
I'd probably do a Jason Thompson and 2nd for Jeff Teague and our own 2nd.
We really need help inside.
