NBA Trade Rumor: Gilbert Arenas To Orlando

There was talk of Gilbert Arenas going to Orlando this summer, but all that cooled before the season. Now it appears to have warmed back up. According to Evan Dunlap of the Orlando Pinstriped Post, the Magic have engaged the Wizards in ongoing trade talks centered around Arenas, and here’s how it might look:

What Orlando would send Washington in return for the three-time All-Star is less clear, but the proposed deal likely includes shooting guard Vince Carter, according to a source. Wizards big man Andray Blatche, Magic forward Rashard Lewis, and Magic center Daniel Orton could also be involved. Both teams have a mutual understanding of what the trade might include, the source says, and it’s unclear what factors are holding up the trade. What is clear around the league, however, is that Magic President of Basketball Operations Otis Smith has his eye on Arenas. If Orlando is to make a major trade this season, Arenas will likely be the target.

I doubt it happens. Gilbert Arenas being traded to Orlando has been mentioned for half a year now, so I hope the media is just bored, and running with the relationship Gilbert has with Otis Smith.

What does that solve? I dont understand what the media thinks Gilbert will bring to them. They need a end of the game scorer but what about the other 40 minutes? Gilbert makes Vince look like a conservative player. Be careful, Otis. Be careful.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Lewis for Arenas makes sense if they are going to use Arenas like the Hawks use Crawford.

What's wrong with Blatche that he'd be included? Attitude problems?

And am I reading this right that the Wiz would give up $23 million of salary and take on $38 million? How does that work?

And how could the Wiz even THINK of taking Rashard Lewis?

The only part that makes sense to me is getting rid of Arenas and taking Carter's contract (which has a buy out).
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Carter would be a steal for Wizards as it would clear salary for a new direction. However, Rashard Lewis would change one bad contract for another. If it is the larger trade then it really could work for the Magic. They would get a guard who can create his own shot and Blatche would be perfect to pair with Howard as it would hide his defense (or lack thereof). The only reason I would think the Wizards do the bigger trade with Lewis is if they are really concerned about getting bad influences out of the locker room.
