Would you do a batum/ fernandez for Evans & 1st?
Bibby- Teague
JC1-JC2- Rudy
marvin- Batum- Damien
Joshes- Al
Al-Zaza- Collins
Upon JJ 's return and before the trade deadline you would have unexpensive multiple trading chips with the addition of Rudy and Batum. in the meantime, Batum would give a healthy competition at the 3

Portland wouldnt do it though. But yes, I would do it.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Anyone except Portland would jump on Batum and Rudy for a 1st and an expiring deal.

Why would Portland do this when they buy 1st round picks every year?

You can't seriously ask for that.
POR starting Batum from the bench doesn't mean they don't think is not their next star.

Re: ATL/ POR
Instead of looking at their young guys, and maybe it will need to wait until February, but if POR continues with a record lower than expected, they could look at trading thier veteran to get younger
Link
In that case, we could look at trade where we get Camby and/or Miller, but would POR be interested by Teague, Marvin, Jordan Crawford, picks... ?
We are starting to play well without Joe, but we won't send him to POR if they want to get younger.
We could include Crawford as big expiring, but it would mean that we could be in Luxury tax next season, and owners won't accept that for players like Camby or Miller (I am even not sure they would accept it for Anthony).
Last point, they have Batum and Matthews playing SF so Marvin may not be their choice, unless they play Matthews at SG in the future with Roy injury, and make Marvin coming from the bench behind Batum or even Aldridge at PF.
We could do a Marvin for Miller, or Mavin+Teague for Miller+Fernandez.
Trying to get both Miller and Camby would require to add Zaza but looks hard without also including Crawford or Bibby, but I still think we need to keep Bibby for a backup PG spot, his brings impact on most games when on the floor this season, and Al and Josh play better when Bibby is on the floor than on the bench.

I just saw the article and my immediate thought was a late January deal of:
Marcus Camby
for
Marvin Williams
Mo Evans
My thoughts are that Marvin gets a fresh start near his home town (where he's had some of his best games). Mo Evans is to make the salary match and is expiring. Marcus added to our current platoon of centers along with Josh's improvement in shooting and the signing of Damien Wilkins make the switch at SF possible. Camby in theory improves our rebounding and defense while not really affecting the offensive mix at all (Marvin only averages a shot or two more a game).
New lineup
Bibby/Teague
Johnson/Crawford/Crawford (when Johnson comes back)
Smith/Wilkins
Horford/Powell
Camby/Pachulia/Collins/Thomas

Re: ATL/ POR
I am afraid POR would like Zaza if they trade Camby, but it would be cool to also get Miller and play with two veteran at PG who have complementary styles.
If Joe comes back in January, we can then trade Crawford, and since Miller is not guaranteed next seaosn, it's like keeping Crawford if it doesn't fit.
At least we would know the difference with a pass first PG as soon as possible
Camby+Miller makes the same salary than Marvin+Crawford+Teague, but we have less expiring than if we keep Crawford.
Add Zaza and Fernandez and we get a 3M relief, so the same than keeping Crawford
The problem would be if it works and get a contender, and see that owners doesn't keep Miller to avoid paying Tax next year.

Miller can also play some SG, so it could make this rotation :
Miller/Bibby/Sy
Joe/Fernandez/Miller
Smith/Wilkins/Evans
Horford/Smith/(edit)Powell
Camby/Horford/Collins/Thomas
We could plays lots of combinations, playing small or big as needed.

Re: ATL/ POR
Lots of good ideas here. I missed what this thread was turning into since after I saw the OP, I didn't bother coming back to it...
Personally, I'd still be watching Przybilla. Think he'd be a nice addition to our rebounding, interior D, and even our O as someone who'd set some hard picks in the motion O. We'd have to monitor his knee of course, but we've got a couple of months to figure that out.
For our team, I'm happy with Bibby @ PG and I'm not sure that Miller would actually even be an upgrade. Things could change of course, but Bibby's biggest weakness (D against quicker PGs) isn't really a huge + in Miller's corner either. I'd also prefer to keep the options open with Smoove. It's nice that he's been hitting the outside shot with consistency, but I'm not sure that I'd want to bring him further from the basket on D too much. Just think it devalues his biggest advantage in matchups (athleticism) while enhancing an advantage that he hasn't used as much (size).
How about something along the lines of Marvin for Przybilla+(young wing - Cunningham or Rudy)? I wouldn't mind adding Zaza, but I'm not sure how the salaries would work... we'd prolly have to put in a pick though.

Re: ATL/ POR
Personally I stayed away from suggesting Pryz because of injury concerns, although at this point I'd gladly deal Marvin for him and a pick or prospect (possibly settling for straight up to shed the contract).
Not opposed to the larger deal that D21 suggests, but I think it is funny that you remember Sy in the depth chart and leave off Jordan Crawford and Josh Powell. I don't think Portland gives up a young wing in any of the deals though. With the health questions on Roy I just don't think they risk lessening any depth out there.

Actually, I was trying some trade scenarios, and the previous one included Jordan C.
but I have to admit that I forgot Powell at PF
Sy came also to mind because I was thinking that we have no update on his injury, and with Joe injury, I thought we could start to see him play at least 2 minutes a game.

Portland Going Young?
With the Trail Blazers' obvious struggles and the health challenges (that's putting it mildly) of Greg Oden and Brandon Roy, two people with knowledge of the team's strategy told CBSSports.com that Portland management is contemplating trading older players and going young. The obvious targets for such a purge would be Marcus Camby (36), Andre Miller (34), and Joel Pryzbilla (31). Link

Re: ATL/ POR
Not that it adds any fuel to our pondering but Andre Miller had an excellent game (22 pts 7 rebs 9 assts 2 steals) against Portland which employed the let Dwight do anything he wants and just win the game strategy. Dwight has 39 pts and 15 boards and Orlando loses by 14 as Vince and Jameer each miss 10 shots and Rashard adds little.
Bibby has played well this year, but Andre can still get a lot of things done.
