Dec 16th: Atlanta at Boston

Post#1 » by azuresou1 » Fri Dec 17, 2010 12:29 am

Since there's no gamethread up yet, thought I'd start one.

Jamal is out for this one. Not sure if this means Jordan Crawford will get significant burn, or if Mo Evans and Damien Wilkins are going to just play a **** ton of minutes.

Rondo is out again.

Close game early on!

We'll see what happens considering the key injuries for both teams. Boston should win by 10.

Josh has been great defensively on Pierce. Not much of an offensive performance though.

it seems like Josh and Al often have bad offensive nights against the Celts. maybe, im remembering wrong tho.

wow, teague is actually making plays. more plays in this quarter than he has made all year combined

It's nice to see Jeff Teague playing well. I first started to doubt him about two weeks ago after I did nothing but support him. Very refreshing!

Al and Josh dont play their best against Boston. Ill take being down 1 at half even against a Rondoless team.

Just got in and, wow, it's a game.

Is Smoove sick? He's playing like he's distracted.

Teague and Bibby in the backcourt won't cut it. Allen has a 4-inch advantage over Bibby, who just can't play SG.

What in the world has gotten into Marvelous?

Evidently it takes Joe and Jamal both to be out and Josh to be ice cold before Marvin exert himself on offense.

Breakout games for Marvin and Jeff, unfortunately couldn't get a stop in the 2nd half to save our lives. Combine that with Josh's worst game in years and it is amazing we stayed within 12. First half we were winning the battle of the boards, in the 2nd half not so much.

Its the quad-annual Marvelous game. Wish he could do this more often. I still put no stock into Teagues game until he does this on a semi consistent basis. This game was sorta like that San Antonio game. 3 solid qtrs and 4th qtr brain farts.

Good effort from the Bench + Marvin. The thing about Marvin and Teague in this game isn't just that their shots were falling, it was the aggressiveness and tenacity they played with to get those shots. What's exciting but also frustrating is that this is exactly what the two of them seem to lack in every other game they play in (hitting shots or not).

Man i wish we could bottle that kind of aggressiveness out of those 2 cause even in defeat that was refreshing to see. But as we all know when Jamal or Joe comes back in the fold it's back to business as usual.

The great mystery has been what is going on in Marvelous' mind.

Is he timid?
Does he not realize what he needs to do?
Is he scared of the other players?
Is he intellectually lacking?
Is he lazy?

He doesn't need to score 26 every game but he needs to be aggressive every game EXACTLY the way he was tonight.

Is someone telling him it's RUDE to take the bull by the horns?

15 FGAs don't hurt either.

Oh, I hear ya, but he rarely shows the aggressiveness I saw tonight. Quite often, the other team covers him with a SG. Whenever that happens, Marvelous should freak out and DEMAND the ball, but he usually just sticks his head in his shell. Tonight, he refused to be covered. That needs to happen every game.

I used to blame Marvelous' troubles on Woodson's treatment of him -- just telling him to stand in the corner and get out of the way. Maybe I was wrong ... or maybe I was right and Marvin needs time to get his head right. Whatever the case, Marvelous needs to man up every game. Score a lot of points one game, score little but rebound a lot - whatever is needed.

I think Marvin likes not having the pressure of performing every night.
