Given the current rumors, there are a lot of possible PG moves. Knowing that the costs of each is different, which PG move do you like best for the Hawks?

Nash wins now.
Why bother with Nash-lite (Calderon) when you can have the real thing?
Plus, Nash's contract ends when Chris Paul and Deron Williams' contract end.

I hadn't heard any trade rumors involving Devin Harris (except maybe as a piece in a Carmelo Anthony deal). That's why I didn't include a possible Harris deal. I'm not saying that Devin or anyone else is any less likely than the ones I listed, just that I hadn't heard of his availability to us.

1. Calderon is much younger. ( Nash 37, Calderon 29)

2. Give up less of the future. (Jamal, Multiple 1st round picks and probably JC2 or Teague for Nash)

3. Nash and Calderon while not the same passers are both very good passers.

I want Nash a lot though. Either will be fine.

To me, Nash or Calderon will improve the offense. Calderon should be available without giving up Jamal which might make the overall lineup stronger, but Nash is both a basketball and business decision. He'll put butts in seats the entire time of his stay. Calderon and Billups just won't do that. Nash is worth the risk of multiple picks to me because of the business aspect. While he boosts attendance for his highly watchable style of basketball, those casual fans get exposed to Josh, Al, and Joe being put in positions to succeed.

Furthermore, a Nash acquisition is likely to catch the attention of the NBA media army (ESPN, TNT, and NBA TV). We won't get the love afforded the Heat, but we'd most likely get a seat at the party in terms of nightly coverage like Boston or Orlando. That's a important step instead of toiling in obscurity and being passed by Chicago and New York in media coverage. It's the type of move that makes Atlanta perceived as relevant in the East. Nothing solidifies attendance and media coverage like post-season success, but Nash would really help.

This might need it's own thread, but if Chauncey does request a buyout from NJN if traded, what do y'all think are chances would be to land him to a vet mini contract? Obviously, MIA would be on him hard, but you'd have to think he'd give us a listen...

I think Mo Williams would be a good fit, talks could start with Mo for Marvin.

Trading for Steve Nash gets my vote out of the options available.

nash and billups are done, their careers only goes downhill from now on

calderon is a good passer, but is not consistent enough. this team doesn't really need a passing pg to excel either cause of how the offense is structured.

Nash has the 2nd highest PER of any PG in the league behind Chris Paul. He has the 5th highest Estimated Wins Added behind Paul, Deron Williams, Westbrook, and Rose. Even if the next year and a half is downhill, Nash is starting so high performance-wise that it wouldn't matter.

if we can't have Devin Harris i'd prefer Steve Nash

Younger Bibby is better than Mo. In fact this Bibby might be as good if not better running an offense.

looks like Denver really don't want Devin Harris and portlind and Dallas my try to trade for him. you mean we don't have the assets to trade for him! I would think Denver would take Marvin and a first or second for Devin Harris. Dude is only 27! he would fit in perfect with us!

Evidently Devin Harris would be available if Carmelo signs an extension with NJ. He wasn't at the time of the poll posting which renders it's choices incomplete.

What's your best offer to Denver for Harris? Not sure Marvin carries that much value, but the picks might. Perhaps, the Billups cost I estimated in the poll could net Harris?

Personally, I still prefer Nash to Harris because I'm sure the impact Nash would have on the other bigs on the offensive end and the star power. However, Harris would be ahead of Calderon in my eyes depending on how much it costs to acquire him.

I disagree. While I've made my case that Nash provides the most. I'm confident that Calderon would improve the offense and Chauncey's playoff experience should not be ignored. Of the newer suggestions that have come along Devin Harris has obvious value as well although it's always risky to project stats from such a bad team.

Mo Williams is the one PG that I have little love for. I don't see much difference between him and Bibby, just a bigger price tag.

So Teague isn't the answer at PG after all??? I thought he'd be a starter this season but he's hardly getting any PT.
