Crawford and Marvin for Roy, Oden, and Fernandez

Marvin has a bad contract, but Roy has a worst one. Roy is not the same player that he once was, but i think he can still bring more to a playoff team, than what Marvin can bring.

i'm not sure what the Blazers are going to do with Oden. for sure they are not going to sign him to an extension, and i'm feeling less confident they will match any offers this summer.

The fan in me likes the deal, but the GM in me would prolly pass. 1st, how would Roy & JJ fit together? It'd be one thing if they could play a bunch of regular season games and figure it out, but with Roy's knee problems, he'd have to be treated with kid gloves to ensure that we've got him for the playoffs. 2nd, the cap issues would be enormous in future years. Between Roy, JJ, Smoove, and Horford, you're looking @ a commitment of nearly $60 mil next year alone. The CBA may do some creative things, but no matter how you turn it, that's a lot of flow. Considering that Roy and JJ would be basically unmoveable, we're left with pawning off Smoove or Horford for pennies on the $... and we'd still be fairly hard against the tax.

As for Oden, I wouldn't mind making a cheap play and hoping he'd just sign the RFA tender. Sure, it'd be expensive (I'm guessing somewhere around $9 mil), but the reward could be enormous. Right now, I'm not sure if POR would even bother tendering him due to their situation, but we'd be in a decent position to do so because of need. Something along the lines of Marvin + Evans for Oden + a prospect (Armon Johnson? Eliot Williams?) would be a deal that I'd look into. POR saves some face by getting some return for Oden while we get a lesser prospect in case Oden walks for nothing.

Intriguing roll of the dice. I'd pass because I suspect their injury history won't get any better in Atlanta, so you are getting rid of Marvin's salary to take on the salary of a greater injury risk.

Something along the lines of Marvin + Evans for Oden + a prospect (Armon Johnson? Eliot Williams?) would be a deal that I'd look into.

I 'd do this, rolling the dice for a guy like Oden is something worth the risk.

Roy is 26 but playing like 36 -- and he may never get any healthier. Oden's a more reasonable gamble (wow! did I just say that?) but it'd be a $9 million gamble.

Add in that we take on about $3.5 million MORE in team salary and lose the expiring (Crawford's) we were depending on to offset Horford's raise and you have a butt-kicker of a gamble.
