Josh Smith being the least offensively efficient player in our top 6 is negating whatever positives he has on defense. He's reaching Joel Anthony territory.

For years, I've noticed the hype outweighed the production...greatly!!!!
And his attitude has always been terrible. He's one of those guys who'll make the highlight reels, but has never actually won anything.

He doesn't have the skillset or mental toughness to lead a team to a championship. And now his stock is on the decline. His numbers are decreasing. His FG% is atrocious, especially for a PF.

He topped out at a whopping 17 ppg three years ago. And we keep drafting underwhelming PGs instead of young athletic PFs or Centers to possibly allow us to trade Smith.

He is, as of today, the 4th leading scorer on our team. Things are falling apart, quickly.

He's doing him as a PF, but as a SF, he's poor stats aside. Nonetheless, his impact defensively is too important. Once he's out the game, the defense looks like a NBDL squad so I wouldn't hate too much. He if not more than Horford needs a true PG.

I've always been one of the bigest josh smith defenders, but I'm starting to belive he would be better coming off the bench for a great team than starting for a good team.

I've been wondering what he might be like playing for a coach that he hasn't been around for years? Would a respected big name coach get him to play more to his strengths or will he always do what he wants?

I don't think a coach would have sway; you'd need a guy like Kobe or KG to call him out.

We'll miss Smoove when he's gone. He's like Gen. George Patton out there: all glory and guts. The man has a heart for the game. I'm not so upset about the 6-20 shooting because he was NOT one of those who gave up. I think that, sometimes, we have players who say, "What's the use?" and give up. Josh Smith is a man out there.

I would trade him - I've posted many trade ideas - but IF we trade Smoove, it had better be for a true Center or PG, not just to get rid of him.

Josh gives up tons of the time. Gives up on defensive fast breaks, gives up when he's not getting calls, gives up by taking jump shots instead of driving it like a man. You're not upset about him shooting 6-20? Well you should be, because he took more 4th quarter 3s than Al Horford took shots.

That's the fault of the offensive scheme, not Smoove. A real PG would have gotten the ball to Horford (it was obvious he was unstoppable that night and especially that 4th qtr.). Instead, we ran our "every man for himself" iso scheme. I think Smoove kept shooting because he kept trying.

7 years later and it's never Josh's fault. He's just trying out there by taking bad shots on one end and he's just trying on defense by talking to the refs while his assignment casually takes a 3. That's definitely the man I'd go to war with. Josh is more akin to the soldiers that Patton used to mercilessly berate than Patton himself. He's the most talented half assed player since Vince Carter. They both gave up on any semblance of taking contact and decided shooting jumpers is better.

Don't mind me, by the way, I just really respect that Smoove is trying to be a superstar. I know it's frustrating to see him shoot so many 3s but I agree with him that it's his job to expand his game.

In my mind, it's the coach, and especially the PG's responsibility to slow him down when he tries to do too much.






I also want him to drive more often .... and to use the backboard when he drives to the hoop....

If Josh was really trying to be a superstar, he'd slash the lane whenever he catches the ball from three and the defender is clearly out of position. Or hell, he'd just slash.

Using the backboard should be the least of his driving issues, if he went for dunks more, eventually people would just let him get a free dunk if he broke by his man like guys do with LeBron now.

I believe JSmoove would be a great player with a different kind of coach. One with a different personality. Smith could be a great all around player with the proper guidance. I am sure Popovich, Sloan or somebody like them could get a much better output from Josh.

But what to expect from a low profile coach that cannot even figure out how the general sense of our offense should be.
