It could be argued that Jamal would have a shot but he's gone cold of late so that seems like a remote long shot leaving the Hawks with 3 reasonable candidates. Whom if any do you see getting the announcement love tonight?

Joe makes it in with Rondo and Allen at the Guard spot.
Horford makes it in as backup C.

By the way, my dream would be if Al plays a superbly efficient game with good volume and finishes as a Top 3 scorer and Top 2 rebounder for the East. Maybe if he got some national press we'd run more plays through him instead of the perimeter.

Its gonna be so sad when Josh doesnt make it even though hes having a better year than last year, the year he should of made it.

This is going to sound strange but I think if Josh would pass a little less then he'd have a better profile. I speak of those plays when he gets the ball down on the block and kicks it out for a 3 point shot. If he would try convert one or two of those a game in the paint I think it would add some balance to his offensive game. Right now it seems like he always (without trying to convert any himself) passes those out to the 3 which although it should be a wide open shot doesn't always result in success as we are sometimes in a funk when no jumper falls. I think a couple of extra plays in the paint would help the team as a whole and how Josh is personally seen around the league.

Al Horford and Joe Johnson should make it no question. Josh Smith on the other hand doesn't deserve to be an All-Star this year. I know many of you will disagree.

It sucks because he got screwed last year, but I agree that he's lacked the consistency this year for me to feel that he truly deserves it.

I've been scanning the net for predictions and most people have Al Horford as the backup center although a lot comment that it would have been Noah if he hadn't got hurt. Joe is named about half the time. I've not found anyone naming Josh Smith to their team.

Well, if they choose like they did the previous years, Josh could deserve it and Joe would be just behind the reserves.
Josh is lower than last year, but nearly on the same level than Bosh, while he was lower than him last seaosn.
On the other hand, Garnett is this season better than last year, and better than him.
The sad part for him comes from Stoudemire and Boozer being in Eastern Conference now.

(I only talk about stats, and Joe could be chosen because there is so much difference between Joe and Josh in the eyes of people, even if Josh could be a better fit in an All-Star Game because of the dunk he can do and that Joe won't even dream of.
Joe is the Hawks, because of years of ISO, and he can thanks Woody for that.
With more plays for Josh, it would have been a different story)

Taking this out of the decision, the 7 reserves should be :
- Horford
- Noah
- Boozer
- Garnett
- Rondo
- Smith
- Bosh or Pierce, advantage to Pierce for a better record

Then come Bogut, Felton, Joe, and even Brand and Iguodala. Ray Allen comes also.
Take Bogut, Brand and Iguodala out for loosing records, and it leaves Joe, Felton and Allen.
Felton is ahead, being the second option of NYK, but his team has lower record
Joe is in the middle.
Allen is behind them, but with a better record.

Now, I think Noah will be injured, but they could choose him, then name another player to replace him. There is also the possible debate that both Noah and Boozer got benefit from playing most of their games with the other injured, and get this way better stats than if they played together since the beginning of the season.
Meanwhile, with the record of CHI, they deserved at least Rose and one of Boozer/Noah.

There is already 2 PGs with Rose and Rondo. Goodbye Felton
There's no need for PF, and this is where Josh can loose it.
There's a need for a SG, and this where Joe can get it, but it can also be Allen.

If both Noah and Boozer are out for having not played enough games, and/or they choose Noah and replace him for injury, then Josh can make it, even with Bosh and Pierce, and one of Allen and Joe.

My bet (not my choice): Allen this time is behind Rondo, Garnett and Pierce. It could be the best time to stop to choose him.

And if they don't keep Boozer and Noah (mainly for not enough games played), they take Josh, and swap Joe and Allen as they won't give it to 3 ATL guys.

Statistically, Josh has a strong case against other forward candidates. I don't think it will matter, but I didn't realize the stats broke down that way. Also those stats (maybe due to the missed games) don't show in as good of light.

True, but Josh > Bosh in rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals. Bosh has points on him, but that is it.

I'm not sure Josh will ever be selected an All-Star. More rebounds a game would help his resume, but I don't think he'll get the nod from coaches and I really don't see the fan vote ever going the way of a Hawk.

Smoove should have made it over Bosh and KG.

The ridiculous part comes from 4 Celtics, and only 2 Spurs.

They don't take Parker because over PG are better than him on stats, but he's the PG of the best team in the league, and while Allen is in the same situation in BOS, he's in with already 3 other BOS players.

Like Griffin. If you allow to take the best players of a loosing team, because of his stats, then you also take Love.
Griffin and Love are exactly in the same case, with the best stats of the Western Conference, but a bad team.
One get the selection, not the other.
I don't like it, you take both, or nobody.

Boozer is just flat out better than Bosh. Josh, Granger or Felton should replace Ray, but i'll give the nod to Granger for PR reasons, it would be nice to see one more player on a small market team in the all star game that is not on the Celtics, Heat, or Hawks.

i'm a huge Josh fan, and he should have made it last year over Gerald Wallace. i don't think Josh should make it this year, because Amare, KG, and Boozer have better PERs. i also don't think that Josh should make it because the Hawks are just an average team, and it would look weird if the Hawks had 3 guys on the All Star team and the Bulls and Magic just have one.

I really don't think Boozer is worthy because he's only played 30 games this season. It's not like I think Chris Bosh deserves it, but Bosh has been healthy except for recently, and has played in ten or more games. Injuries are a big factor and only playing 30 games like Boozer has won't cut it.

I've supported Kevin Love since Minny drafted him. Before the season started I debated on the general board that he should be starting. A great deal of the Minny fans said there's not a big difference between Love and Beasley. Many of them felt Beasley should be starting and it's questionable if Love will ever become starter worthy. But, I won't defend him making the ASG, because while his numbers are unreal, his defense is terrible, so his opponent puts up All-Star numbers as well when they face Love. Minnesota only has 11 wins and have yet to win a divisional game.

and i would argue that Booz played 30 games and only missed 18 games, thus he played well over 50% of the game, up until the all-star break. i would understand not being considered if you played less than 20 games, but 30 games is a good enough sample size for your stats to reflect your performance for the season up to this point.
