this team is built to only be a regular season team. the hawks will never win in the playoffs with this current roster. I hope the Horford's camp force Rick Sunds hand to make some changes to the roster or he may threating to live via free agency. I hope that is what he does..

A) Al Horford can't leave via free agency for a looong time
B) We can't make any major roster changes because we signed Joe ****ing Johnson to the max.

He just signed an extension that will keep him a Hawk until the end of 2015/2016. What the hell are you talking about?

yes he did and you are correct.... but we are all Hawks fans, so the rudeness is not necessary!

I don't understand why so many people fail to understand this. People also seem to routinely forget that Josh Smith would be paid some $5M in a trade kicker if traded, too.
If the Hawks are going to improve their shot at making the EC final, it'll take some aggressive moves by trading the "other" players on the team who don't have expiring contracts (e.g., Zaza, Teague, Marvin, JC2) for players that provide better roster balance.

But does the trade kicker factor into the trade? If not, the only question is the ASG's willingness.

For example, over at the Bucks' board, many are agreeing to a Smoove/Bogut deal where we take on bad contracts but the salaries match up. Would the ASG take Bogut, even if he put us over the Luxury Tax limit - not this year, but - next year when Horford's contract increases?

Bogut's injury history is starting to worry me. The only year he played all 82 games was as a rookie.
But he is a good big man and is a true center.
But I wouldn't do the deal like this one:
Bogut, Salmons, Gooden, Maggette. Brockman
for
Smith, Crawford, Bibby, Evans, Teague, Crawford, Collins, your 1st round pick
Not having a point guard is a pretty big thing. Smith, Teague, Both Crawford and a 1st for Bogut and some bad contracts...pretty bad.
