What is up with Eddy Curry... really!

Post#1 » by geeman » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:10 pm

Is it that he just a head case? Is he hurt? Is he just fat? He was a good offenisve player, I remember him killing us a few years ago. So what's his real issue, it looks like he's going to be part of the big trade and I'm sure Denver will just cut ties with him.

Um... yes he can. His heart condition precludes him from being an athletic beast, but it doesn't preclude him from being the most out of shape NBA "player" in the league, or from eating Triple Whoppers for breakfast.

lol Is his heart condition career ending ? I thought he was in shape at the start of the season. Can help a playoff team make a push? or is he just done? like sign him for the rest of the season deal

if he wanted to he could dominate anyone in the post. the problem is he really doesn't wont to play he only wants to get paid.

you're right! I remember we were thinking about signing him and during his interview with BK he was more interested in meeting his girl freind than his meeting with the hawks

I live in Chicago and Eddy Curry's 1st passion was gymnatics(he was a Jessie White tumbler). His work ethic and love for the game have always been in question. He took the jump from simply "out of shape" in the context of basketball (Demacus Cousins,Shaq,Baron Davis, etc)to just outright fat once he hurt his knee in 2008.

Just a reminder of when Randolph Morris was here, wasting away 2 years worth of contract money.

A guy who was never dedicated enough and who played with Smoove and DHoward in AAU. You would think that that relationship would propel him to work harder than either. Well, it did the opposite.

Curry may be close to a comparison with an old big man, Mel Turpin, from Kentucky. The guy couldn't pass McDonalds without stopping.....Mel came into Cleveland and used his salary to feed his first passion. He teamed up with Bowie at UK, and there couldn't have been 2 physiques so opposite. Bowie was never healthy enough to compete with a Sampson, and Turpin had weaknesses once the salary started flowing.

Its hard to guage the potential of a big man once he gets job security.

We needed a big man at the time, so I really cannot attack Billy Knight, but things are much different now. It's nice to not have to worry about pursing the garbage players just to fill a roster spot.
