GSW @ ATL

Something positive has already happened: Josh has gotten 2 rebounds and has immediately passed it to Hinrich. I love it. Please continue to do that.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

You'll love Hinrich.
First 2 secs of debut and hits a 3.

If he can hit 38% of his threes and do any sort of defending he will be an upgrade.

Just got in to see Joe's steal and basket at the buzzer. Judging by the score, I (wrongly) expected to see Hinrich with great #s. So WHO IS the catalyst for this? Teague, with 5 assists and a steal? Smoove?

Or is GS just that bad?

Teague is looking good and very comfortable running the show.

Who is that #0 for us and when did we trade for him?

Not that Teague is playing superb but he is playing well enough to warrant some more starts. He can defend as well as Hinrich. Let Hinrich come off bench with Crawford. Impressive effort tonight, granted its against a team who is missing every shot and doesnt defend.

Hawks just flat out dominated the 1st half and the Warriors are just giving them layups to start the 2nd.

Also...Josh Smith really just hit 3 straight jumpshots in the 3rd quarter. 1st time I've ever seen him do that.

2 fast PGs running the ball up the court -- I LIKE it.

With the athletes we have, I have been waiting to see athletic PGs defending and running up and down the court for 7 years.

Of course, GS plays defense like it's a shameful thing to do. We'll have to wait until we play a good defense ... but it looked good tonight.

Great game by Josh and Al. I love how Kirk handles the ball, very confident. We need our other guards to play better though, specially Mr. Johnson. Marvin seems so lost out there, we desperatelly need to get rid of him in the off-season.

I agree on Marvin but unless he puts some good games together I don't think anyone will take him until he's expiring. As for the guards, at least Josh and Al had the most attempts.

I'm convinced that, with Marvelous, it's a mental thing. He played better in his 3rd year than he does now. Today, he's a broken little boy. He has no confidence, no bounce ... and when he's on the court, he seems to not know the sets. He seems to be either too confused or too apologetic to move decisively. Did anyone else notice how often he was standing in the way last night? Either that or he was attempting the world's worst picks.

Even if he's not going to be a star, these should be the years when he plays like a veteran: he should be able to recognize each situation and know where he's supposed to be - what he's supposed to do - where he's supposed to go.

However, we can't trade him - no one would give us anything for him. He's a good defender and, from time to time, he impresses offensively, especially when we run plays just for him.

Instead of trading him, we need to focus on 1 or 2 things he can do well on offense and, from the bench, let him come in and do those 1 or 2 things for awhile and then sit down. Maybe we can build up his confidence enough for him to become productive for us.

Back to the OP: I hope everyone saw that we played some very good defense on a first-rate offensive team. The Warriors may stink but their offense is 8th in the NBA.

i don't know if GSW suck that bad, or the whole team just had an off night, but the Hawks' D, looked like the 08 Celtics.

Kirk and Teague looked good. Kirk looked like he will be able to fit in with Joe and Josh with no problems. if Teague's peek would be Rondo's 08 season, which is 10/5/2, with above average defense, then the Hawks can still end up with a very good PG.

Curry has had a good month in Febuary, but had his worst game tonight, and i want to give Teague and Kirk credit for that. asking them to shut down every other team's PG, like they did with Curry is too much to ask, but i'm hoping they can night in and night out, hold the opposing's PG to below their season's average

like i said on the other board, the trade doesn't make the Hawks that much better, but it does make them alittle better enough to take the Bulls to 7 games. once Teague gets more playing time and confidence, watching Teague/Rose match up will be alot more fun than Bibby/Rose.

Although I'd prefer to play the Bulls, there's no way NY is going to catch the Hawks in the standings.

^ with the current roster, i think the Hawks can take the Bulls, Magic, and Knicks to 7 games. if Joe and Crawford can get back into their .380 3pt fg%, then maybe they can take the Heat to 7 games. as for the Celtics and Lakers, everything just needs to be working, and even with that, i don't know if it will go to 6.

Interesting. I've give us the advantage on the Knicks in a series. I don't like their depth or defense. I just think they have too many holes. Disadvantage against the Bulls and unknown against the current Magic squad (they've played so up and down). I think we can go 7 with the Heat because of their roster deficiencies, but I wouldn't bet against them with their "ability" to get to the foul line. The Celtics are a wild card based on health, but if they are healthy I think you are right in your estimate. I still don't like how we match up against the Lakers at all, but I'm not optimistic enough to worry about that.

I still suspect we are too perimeter dependent on offense which makes it hard to give us an advantage over any quality team.
