Get D12 out the game early and the Hawks start shooting jumpers? That defeats the purpose of getting him in foul trouble... Come on Josh!!!!!

No! We're missing Zaza.
And Collins is Drew's answer, instead.

Since about the 6 min mark, all we've done is iso-Jamal or iso-Joe. It's Drew's security blanket, just as it was Woodson's.
And it'll get him fired, just as it did Woodson.
We got the lead with Horford posting up. Smoove posting up. Even Zaza and Marvelous posting up.

Re: Hawks vs Magic
Anyone wanna tell me why Jason Collins is on the court right now? Just cant figure it out. JJ got 2 shots he can make in the final possessions. The 2nd one was tough, but he can make that. I like when Kirk is a little aggressive offensively.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Badly played by Drew down the stretch. Hope he learns from this. The days of iso ball need to die, except when we see an advantage. Isolations, just for their own sake, are not an intelligent answer. For the last 5-6 minutes, they ran plays and we took difficult, one-on-many jump shots.

I stopped whining about isos a while ago. Its something well have to live with. In all honesty, so many teams run them coming down the stretch. Your more likely to run plays while down. So they ran plays, while we isod/ran clock. Its sorta how the NBA is, and its garbage.

Because Dwight Howard could shove Horford anywhere he wanted to. He got every rebound. He pushed our offense out of the lane. You get the idea.
Now, I would have preferred Zaza, who was playing well, instead of Collins. But, to give Drew credit, Collins made the decisive stop at the end of the game.

Re: Hawks vs Magic
Drew almost blew this game by switching to the 3 guard lineup. Putting Collins back in with 1:40 saved the game. Dwight got position against Al and Orlando got second shots galore when we had 3 guards in. As long as Howard is still in the game we need to maintain our defensive presence with Collins, Zaza, or Etan in there regardless of the offensive end (which was exactly buoyed by Jamal and Kirk tonight anyway).

Re: Hawks vs Magic
Gilbert is done and the Magic don't really have anyone who can guard Smith.
Drew just throws **** against the wall and hopes it sticks when it comes to rotations but it worked tonight. He's an idiot but at least he's recognized that the Hawks aren't going to beat Orlando if Al has to start the game on Dwight. The Hawks CAN'T go small vs them.

Thing is, I've often been impressed with the plays that Drew has called coming out of timeout. He should do more of 'em.
A hurting Joe and a cold (for weeks) Jamal should not be his final answer -- not when Smoove and Horford are having success posting up. We could have let Zaza/Collins occupy DH and let Horford post up Anderson and Smoove post up Turkoglu. Give the ball to them and make the defense react, then they can either score or swing the ball around to an open Joe/Jamal.

Lol we have more bigs than Orlando...I know Josh Smith got in Dwight's ear afterwards
July 31, 2010
Jeff Shultz at the AJC took time out to interview Dwight Howard while he was in Atlanta this weekend. Dwight will be Josh’s best man.Seeing how close these two are just makes it sting a little more than Atlanta missed out on getting the hometown star back in 2004 because of one digit.
Next, Dwight had some interesting comments about the Hawks.
On whether Shaq would be a good fit for the Hawks: “I don’t know. I like their lineup now. I know a lot of people get mad and say they’re not big on the inside, but they’re a big team. They’ve got big guards. They’ve got big forwards. They’ve got a flying forward [Smith]. So it doesn’t really matter about having a seven-footer.
His comments were made when asked if Shaq would be a good fit for the Hawks. I know some will say that he is just saying this because he feasts on the Hawks. He did that in the playoffs, but in the regular season, the Hawks actually held Dwight six percentage points under his season average in field goal percentage. I like that he calls Josh Smith a “flying forward”.
Does anyone think Dwight may try to force his way to the Hawks when he becomes a free agent in 2012? Dwight is a big time Hawks fan, even though he plays for the Magic. I really feel that if he has a choice, he would come to Atlanta.

Both the Hawks and Magic got worst, but the Magic got worst than the Hawks.
the game plan going into the playoffs seems pretty easy, get Dwight in foul trouble, and with no more Vince, Joe doesn't have to worry about defending iso anymore.

Hey Magic fan here, just wanted to say good game and that i disagree with what you say completely. the Hawks move the ball more and they actually have a guy that can defend at the 1, and the Magic had to go through more injuries, suspensions, and the trades... so imo both teams are better.

i'm not saying that the Hawks got worst after the Kirk trade, i'm saying they got worst in relation to last year, because Joe and Jamal are under performing , but i do think that the Magic got worst because of the trade. Vince gave Joe alot of problems and it is obvious that Dwight is playing hesitant because he has to watch out for his fouls because Gortat is not around.

The Hawks are averaging 86 ppg vs the Magic this year which is terrible. The reason they are playing better this year is because they've figured out a way( to defend Dwight w/o giving up 50 open 3s a game like they did in the past 3 years. Orlando had 44 3s in the 4 game 1st round sweep vs the Hawks last year and only 19 in the 4 game regular season series this year. That is a huge percentage of their offense.

That just shows how great both teams play defense. defense does win championships.

Re: Hawks vs Magic
I cannot understand how LD cannot see the things fans see or the other way around.
I guess he took the easy way a long time ago. Letting or laying isos with JJ and Crawford is not the answer in the long run. It gives you the possibility to get to a certain level. Then something else needs to be accomphished in order to be a better team and have a chance to last longer in the POs.
If he is unable to stop so many individual plays from JJ then he is to blame. If he is the one ordering them (through training) then he is to blame too. Does he not realize he is not taking advantage of all the possibilities this group have, even with their own lacks.
