Would you trade Josh smith straight up for Greg Oden?

what assets could we trade to get him? this could include a third team

Josh smith
Marvin Williams
Zaza
j Crawford ( s&t)
Cap Kirk

Hell freaking no. Why does a guy who can't stay healthy for even 20 games keep getting mentioned on this board? I'd rather have Aaron Gray than Greg Oden.

What's with this idea?

I think it makes no sense at all.

While we're at it, we need a true PG, so let's trade Horford for Darren Collison...

Unless we can get Oden without giving up much, maybe Marvn Williams to LAC that sends Kaman to Portland and a future pick from us for Oden. Other than that, I would like to pursue a deal like Zaza & 2013 first to Houston for Jordan Hill and Thabeet, and Marvin to Sacto for Casspi or Donte Green & Whiteside, then trade a couple conditional 2nds to Denver for Kosta Koufos. Gives a bunch of big cheap bodies, that looks better than what we got with the exception of Collins. Koufos, can actually start from what i have seen and Casspi looks like a better player for the Hawks.

I wouldn't mind making big moves for guys like Bargnani or Biedrins. There is also a bunch of young cheaper guys that are back ups or not getting minutes with their current team like Kosta Koufos, Aaron Gray, Solomon Alabi, Robin Lopez, Spencer Hawes(RFA), Cole Aldrich, & Darko. Any 2(specifically Gray,Darko and Koufus) would worth trading for. All are 7 foot except Cole. Then Sign a vet like Kwame Brown or Pryzbilla using some of the MLE(If it exist).

I think those are the list of tradeable assets he's listing in hopes of getting Oden.

Not beating a dead horse, but ITS REAL HARD to get a great big man and I think that all we need!
Sometime you just have to take a chance. If just for his defensive presents and rebounding it would be worth taking a flyer on him.

Maybe this is a better answer to your question: Smoove is so much healthier, so much of a sure thing to be on the court AND he's a better player/value than Oden, that POR would have to add picks to make up the value.

Even with the picks, we'd still be making a risky gamble. Sure, if Oden becomes the player we hope he'll be, then we make out like bandits. And, there's a chance that he loses some of his athleticism but manages to be a Jason Collins with shot-blocking and rebounding ability, which is most probable.

However, there's also a chance that he never gets healthy. Some guys get paid and then lose their drive to work hard enough to get back into shape.

So, he probably becomes Twin but with better shot-blocking and rebounding. That's nice - and I'd like that, but, without picks, it's not worth Smoove. On the other hand, wouldn't it make sense for POR to gamble that Oden gets his health back, rather than trade him - and picks - away for Smoove? A good Center is so hard to find.
