Teague has been great but Bulls got lucky that Kirk got hurt

Post#1 » by dwalton » Wed May 11, 2011 10:43 pm

Teague has been great and will be the Hawks PG of the future, but the Bulls got lucky that Kirk got hurt.

Kirk's 3pt shooting would help the team more than Teague's 20ppg. Teague will get you 20ppg, and Kirk will only get you 12ppg, but with Kirk, 6 to 9 points of those points would have come from the 3pt line.

the spacing Kirk would have given the Hawks would have helped out everybody, especially Joe and his double teams.

Rose has a hard time defending overall and Kirk could have really given him problems.

Teague's defense has been great, Kirk is not as athletic as Teague, but i know Kirk's defense would have been just as great as Teague. like Noah, Kirk is not a super athlete, but he is smart and hustles and that always gets positive results. Kirk has a high enough basketball IQ and would have had no problem in baiting Rose to taking those long 3pt shots.

Teague has been great, but he has no 3pt shot and doesn't pass when he penetrates. he will get those two things later on and will become a complete NBA PG, but for this series, the Hawks would value more of Kirk's headsy play.

disagree, teague has had more of an impact this series then Kirks own mom could ever dream of kirk having. and teague wouldnt of gotten much playing time if kirk was healthy.

Yeah, it would be hard to believe that Kirk wouldn't have brought us something this series. Teague has done more than what even the most optimistic Hawks fan could have expected, but Hinrich was really settling in for us in the last month or so. I guess the "best case scenario" in retrospect would have been that Hinrich was out for Game 1 which would have given Teague some confidence and given us another weapon for the bulk of the series. I'm actually pretty excited about our options @ G next year with Teague, Hinrich, and JJ. Sure, I'd like to get 1 more guy to back those 3 up, but that's a pretty stout 3-some to start with.

Better than Kirk OR Teague, think how great it'd be to have both. Drew'd have to give up on his Jamal-at-PG experiment, however.

yeah, Bibby has always had a long history of choking in the playoffs and under performing, even in his prime when he was in Sacramento

Hinrich's PER does go up in the playoffs, but that was along time ago when he was younger, so i don't know about now.

if the games were alot closer, then i would agree that having Kirk would be better than having Teague, but since the margin of victory for both teams are usually over 10pts, then i don't think it makes that much difference Teague or Kirk is in their.

what you should really be looking at is Marvin.

Teague has played better than Hinrich could ever dream of playing.

I'm STILL holding on to my prediction that we trade Teague this offseason.

Sund will probably take this series to be leverage and trade him for a 'win-now' piece.

Teague has contributed a dimension that the Hawks didn't have before (penetration). If Kirk didn't get hurt we might have never gotten to see it because Teague likely gets DNPs from Drew. I'll admit that Kirk's defense would have helped, but he wouldn't have stopped Rose. The way the rules are called in this era makes speed trump and Rose is the fastest.

We lucked into finding out we had a PG. Sure he has areas to improve (staying low on defense for one), but he's had a chance to prove on the big stage that he belongs on the floor. Larry Drew can't ignore that going forward, so in the future Teague can learn while playing instead of just watching. Hopefully he won't yank Jeff on every little mistake because it should be clear that we're better with him in the lineup.

We'd been best with both Teague and Hinrich healthy and with Drew having faith to play Teague. It would have allowed us another option when Jamal was cold or playing poorly on defense. But considering that Drew never played Teague unless forced during the season you realize that his soundbites about always believing in Teague are just lip service and CYA, not something to believe.

Are you the same ballboy thats been saying this the entire series?

But the problem with having a healthy Hinrich is you dont get this Teague, you get the Teague that played 9 minutes in the 1st round.

Trust me when I say Hinrich getting hurt is the "best" thing that could of happened for the Hawks.

I mean now you know you have a pg for the future. Imagine if Teague got traded in the off season because he never got a shot like he is getting right now.
