Or shall I say with only trading Marvin Williams. we need a center. someone that can rebound and score on put backs and maybe have a few low post most if we throw it in to him. LOL
I know you all are going to kill me on this one......
but how about Marvin Williams for Drew Gooden. then get a few more free agents in the open market. maybe some scoring off the bench. I like Micheal Redd(hopefully he can be half of his former self.) Tayshawn Prince, T-mac, Delonte West, Anthony Parker, Grant Hill, Jason Kapono,Chris Wilcox, Carl Landry.
I am thinking older players that would like to be on a playoff team that will take less to come off the bench. that is why I am not nameing people like Al Thornton or Wison Chandler or Nick Young or even Marco Belinelli. I think those type player will demand more than what we will be able to afford, and may not want to come off the bench.
Kirk/Teague or Teague/Kirk
JJ/Redd/or T-mac
Smoove/Prince or Grant Hill
Horford/Landry
Gooden/ZaZa
Hilton
Rolle
Collins
SY
that is 14 players
this is how the money should be paid out JJ 18M Smoove 12.4M Horford 12M Kirk 8M Gooden 6.2M Zaza 4.7M Prince 2.5M Landry 2M Collins 1M Redd 1M Armstron 0.7M Rolle 0.5M Pape Sy 0.4M
not sure what the cap will be but that is 69.6 M there.

McGrady had a chance to play for Boston or LA etc. He wanted another big contract. next.
Drew Gooden is not a starter and definitely not a starting center! and Carl Landry is an undersized scorer who can't play elite defense.
We don't need more shooters. It's painfully obvious. We need to develop Teague as a distributor who gets to the free throw line and collapses the defense and we need rebounders to follow up.
Drew Gooden starting and Magnum Rolle and Jason Collins off the bench vs Chicago? srsly?
Horford+Hinrich+Williams Bogut+Salmons+Gooden (backup) + Sanders (start)
nice mix of youth. I suggested Al Thornton because he was barely hanging onto the league and a backup on a playoff team is better than backing up Dorrell Wright and playing the 4 on the rebounding-anemic Golden State Warriors.

ok with this trade that would put the hawks at 68.8M at best, maybe more, with 10 players. and that is without Al thornton. we need 3 more players minimum. so we would have to sign 3 more players for a total of 1.2M. because I know the hawks will not pay one dollar in luxury tax. so how do you plan to fill those last three spots?
and Drew Gooden is not a star player by any stretch of the imagination. but what he is is a guy that will rebound with the best of them and get some good garbage points in the paint. he should be cheap, which would allow us to had more quality bench players. that would make us a more deep team. let me give you a example. your moves
teague/salmons
JJ/salmons
Smoove/Wilkins
Sanders/Gooden
Bogut/Zaza
Collins
Rolle
Sy
D-League player
I hope Sanders can be a starter. we don't know what he is. I bet Gooden would beat him out though.
but that bench isn't any better than the one we had this year as a matter of fact it is worst because Salmons isn;t a pg. and we don't know if Teague will go back to what he was before the bull playoff series.
or
Teague/Kirk
JJ/Tmac or Redd
Smoove/Prince or Grant Hill
Horford/Landry
Gooden/Zaza
Collins
Rolle
Sy
which bench is better?
would I rather have Bogut over Gooden as our starting Center? hell yes. now if we were to only trade Marvin and Horford for Bogut and Gooden. then you maybe on to something. but I am not ready to hand it over to Teague just yet, he has to play a full season like he did in the bull series first.

The only way I would want Gooden is if we get Bogut in that Trade

I hope we do get Bogut. I am only saying I would rather have Gooden than Marvin. and Marvin will be making more than Gooden next year

I know wat your sayin, but if we're going to go to the trouble of negotiating with MIL we might as well negotiate a deal revolved around Bogut

I would be a big fan of trading away Josh for Bogut and sign Prince. A lineup of Teague and/or Hinrich, JJ, Prince, Horford, and Bogut would be very balanced and capable. At this point I'm done with Josh and Marvin and feel stuck with JJ. If we could turn Teague/Hinrich/Jamal into Chris Paul (pipe dream), I would be overjoyed. I honestly think we could definitely get Prince and Bogut though.

The only 30 year old who should be starting is Joe Johnson.
Crawford is gone bcuz of recent Marvin and JJ signings so turning him into CP3 is not feasible.
Horford has showed he has peaked athletically and what he is capable of against elite teams with any length. Celtics, Bulls, Magic.
Trading Josh Smith will not return a top center like Bogut. Trading Horford will.
