Joe and his money

Post#1 » by myrak433 » Thu Jun 2, 2011 1:14 pm

for all of those who are bi@#ing about Joe and his money.
saying how can he make more than Lebron or Kobe. bla-bla-bla.

well he doesn't. Kobe and those guys make way more money than JJ would ever make. those guys get paid by other sources.

here is what these guys make a year

The top 10:

1. Tiger Woods, $75 Million
2. Kobe Bryant, $53 Million
3. LeBron James, $48 Million
4. Roger Federer, $47 Million
5. Phil Mickelson, $46.5 Million
6. David Beckham, $40 Million
7. Cristiano Ronaldo, $38 Million
8. Alex Rodriguez, $35 Million
9. Michael Schumacher, $34 Million
10. Lionel Messi, $32.3 Million

JJ will have made 59 M in the next three years. so that is about 6M more than what kobe makes in one year. Lebron can afford to take less in a contract but hey Lebron still is getting 16M,17.5M 19M,20.6M, and 22.1M for the next 5years from the heat.

JJ for next five years

$18,038,573 $19,752,645 $21,466,718 $23,180,790 $24,894,86.

not a big difference.

LOL? Those guys get paid more from advertising contracts. I don't give a **** how much Nike pays someone, I care how much the ASG needs to pay because that's what affects how good my team can potentially be.

The gap between LeBron and Joe Johnson is far bigger than the gap between Joe Johnson and MLE guys like John Salmons and Wesley Matthews.

if you think that John Salmon and Wesley Matthews are on the same level as Joe Johnson there really no reason for me to try to have a debate with you. you have your mind already made up..........
I am just glad that JJ will be a hawk for at least three more years

Why do I care? Because it's a horrid contract that keeps my team from getting better as a whole? Was that a serious question?

How is it horrible, did Joe fall off completely because its news to me.He averaged over 20ppg for 5years and leads the team in assists plus he's a decent rebounder. His contract really isn't bad at all and any other team was going to give him 6 years $110 million anyway.

A) Joe was never worth nearly that much - I shuddered at giving him 5/80, much less a 6/120.
B) Just because someone else is willing to overpay does not mean that you should overpay yourself. You ESPECIALLY shouldn't start by throwing a max immediately at him.

If I'm looking on the car market and see that someone has put up, oh, an '08 Accord that I'm interested, I will make an offer. I should expect to pay approximately $15-16k for it. If someone bids $25k for it, that doesn't mean that I should pay more than what that car is worth solely because they have bid on it.

I completely agree with you azuresou1! You would really have to be blind to not understand that the JJ signing was a mistake. He was WAY overpaid. The only reason these boys are coming in here to defend JJ is because they think he's a good player. And I AGREE! But he is not worth $120 Mil. The luxury we've had in the past of signing players to contribute is LONG GONE for at least 5 years! Unless we find a way to get rid of some Money Eaters (JJ).

It's not our money, and that's a FACT! BUT... if you don't care about the money, then you don't care about the progress of your team. If you don't care about the progress of your team... then you are not a fan. I can tell you are a fan of the team... BUT, you know nothing about the NBA and how it operates.

Question still to be answered logically, Who do we sign with Joe's money?!?!? Do you really put in a lot of stock A.) Thinking Dwight really wants out of Orlando, which comes to B.) Does Dwight want to come home with best friend Josh Smith, C.) Thinking Chicago wouldn't have signed JJ and killed our title hopes regardless of whether we get Dwight or not? and finally D.) Really wanting to live in the lottery after "JOE" pulled us out of it just to gamble for Dwight?

Joe is closer to Lebron than John Salmons or Wesley Matthews are to Joe.

Those two are not even the best player on there team. or even the second best player..... and the hawks are better than Mil.

We aren't going to win anything with Joe and his horrid contract. What you guys aren't understanding is the performance to salary ratio. NONE of us are complaining about his performance! If you actually watched games, Joe does not fit in our offense. He lives and dies with the ISO. I believe we'd be just as good (if not better) if we signed a player that's like Kyle Korver rather than Joe.

What no one has talked about here is his AGE! Do the math, during the last year of his contract, Joe will be 35!!! You can't seriously think Joe is going to put up these numbers throughout this horrid contract! GET OUT OF HERE with your "he's closer to Lebron than Salmons" crap. Look at the money he is receiving only to get one prime year!

You guys are so blind and shallow that you won't be able to understand the long term damage. All you can do is sit back and watch the next 5 years. I guarantee you by the end of this contract, ALL of you will be saying "I can't believe we are giving this bum superstar money!"

you guys are so ignorant.. when teams come to play the Hawks their hold game plan in to stop Joe. not Horford, not Josh, not Teague, not anyone else on this team except Jamal. why do you think that is? because they know that if they don't the Hawks can beat them. any team.

so if the coaches in the League respect Joe that much, why isn't the fans of his own team don't?

you all are just blind if you don't see that if Joe has a more balanced team he would earn his contract.... for years he has needed a point guard and a center. now all he needs is a center. I have no doubt that Sund will get the Hawks a center this off season. it depends on which one he gets Joe if it is the right one..... ya'll will eat alot of crow.

if we can keep both Josh and Horford Bargs will be good enough. although he may not be a true center, he is 7 feet tall and can score inside and out. that would take a whole lot of pressure off of Joe to be Mr. Everything on offense.

if we have to trade one of Horford or Josh I hope we can get Bogut. because he is great on the offensive end and defense as well.

that is all we are missing.

and who cares if he falls off a bit in 4 years. he is showing no signs of slowing so how are you so sure he will be slowing in four years. besides Joe's game is not predicated on athleticism, it is so on skill. and he will not loose his skill set in 5 years that is ridiculous if you think so.

to add even if he is not worth his contract in five years if he wins us a nba tittle on at the very least and eastern conference tittle and reach the finals two times in the five years it would have been worth it.

or we could try to move Joe and go back to being one of the NBA's cellar dwellers.

This is ridiculous. Who cares how much he makes outside the league? It's about how much the player eats your cap, and Joe takes a whole lot of it.
Joe Johnson is a bad contract because he is 30 and isn't a franchise player. Lebron James is a good contract because he's 26 and is an all-nba player.
Is Lewis a bad contract? Is Arenas? in 2-3 years people will probably say the same about Joe.

Cap flexibility allows shrewd teams to make moves that significantly make the team better. I don't know exactly what moves we could make, because the opportunities haven't presented themselves yet, but keep in mind that Minnesota got Beasley for a 2nd because they could take him off the Heat for a TPE. Flexibility is just that, flexibility.
