Cleveland reaching out to Atlanta

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Jun 21, 2011 3:05 pm

Others say the Cavs are reaching out to Atlanta. No word on whom the Cavs would want (or if it's even true), but I wouldn't be surprised. Cavs general manager Chris Grant was once an employee of the Hawks, so he certainly still has some connections there. http://www.foxsportsohio.com/06/18/11/N ... eedID=3724

Cleveland probably wants Al Horford.

Sund should contact Cleveland about the 4th pick, but keep Al Horford, and look to move Joe Johnson on them for the pick/depth.

What interest me: Anderson Varejao and Daniel Gibson. Antawn Jamison is expiring and could be a big filler at $15 million.

Ramon Sessions should be easy for them to move. Baron Davis has two years remaining on his contract and Cleveland will also look to move him.

Joe/Zaza to CLE, Horford/Hinrich/Jamison/Varejao to ORL, Dwight Howard/Arenas to us.

CLE turns Jamison into Joe. Zaza is akin to Varejao. They keep their picks.
ORL gets rid of Arenas, adds 2 big expiring contracts ($23,076,715 total), saves face with Horford and Varejao. Or, they wait until Horford's contract goes up, we keep Hinrich, and ORL saves $1 million on the exchange.

We get a little something, ourselves.

There's no way Cleveland would take on JJ. If we were to trade with them, they could give us LeBron's TPE.

I disagree. With the #1 pick to be Batman, Joe could be Robin. They could easily take on Joe's salary and another player for Baron Davis, Antwan Jamison and the 4th pick. The TPE doesn't help with Joe though because it is just a bit too small.

They could give us the 4th and Hickson with the TPE for Josh though.

Cleveland is not going to take on JJ. There is absolutely no chance of that happening.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

I think Cleveland would be an excellent fit for Joe Johnson. They have the players that can get a trade accomplished, but they'll need to move Baron Davis, because I doubt they want him going into the season with Joe Johnson, and it's not like we have any interest in him.

Antawn Jamison: Expiring; $15 million go very far when matching Joe's salary. I think the only thing that is hurting a trade getting done with Cleveland is Sund and our ownership.

if it is true, it might be a small trade that involves Marvin.

i think Cleveland thinks that Marvin can turn it around like Michael Beasley did in MINN, and they should rightly think so, because i think Marvin is just a good as Beasley

Any trade that moves Marvin is huge in my eyes. I was so frustrated with him at playoff time, I was calling for him to go live on a farm in the country where he could run and play (if you get my drift).

Marvin Williams for Clevelands trade exception and the #32 pick would be great for the Hawks

Return to Atlanta Hawks
