Lets not wait for D12

We might have the hometown advantage over other teams when dealing with Dwights free agency, heck we even have the best friend advantage(Josh Smith), but we just dont have the money to sign him. So lets trade for him: How bout Al, next years first, and future lotto pick for a RESIGNED Dwight. Imagin the two hometown kids rockin the Highlight factory :D. But if were giving that much value for Dwight theres no chance I am taking on Arenas or Hedo.

Not to be a jerk, but while Horford is a nice player, he is no Dwight Howard. I'm sorry but with Howard and the way he has continued to develop, any team that gets him is an instant contender, but of course you already know that. The same cannot be said for Horford. Also with a Dwight any first round picks would be in the late 20's to 30's picks. No value there either. While I am a Magic fan, and have my worries about our management and front office, we are not the Memphis Grizzlies, we are not just going to give Howard away.

This is true, however it does beat him pulling a LeBron and walking. If the scenario is trade him for Horford and 2 firsts or lose him for nothing, not sure it the latter makes sense.

Also true, better to get something then nothing. I just feel that Orlando will roll the dice and try to convince Howard to stay. I think though it will all resolve itself by the trade deadline like it did with Melo. Either he will resign or give a list of teams he would go to and let us get the best package.

I know everyone is playing the "Josh Smith is his BFF" angle....but Dwight is never coming to the Hawks. Let's be real for a second.

I could see Dwight coming here. Looking @ NJN, I wouldn't have thought that Avery Johnson would have coached there, nor that Deron would stay happy there as recently as 2 years ago. But give the Russian some credit - in the last year, they've landed their star and still have some $$ going into FA. Hopefully, something similar can happen with our Hawks...

As for the OP, if I'm ORL, I'd prefer to make a run @ the NBA title with D12 next year and risk losing him for nothing than trading him - especially if it's pennies on the $$. It'd be one thing if they knew they'd be cellar dwellers all year, but quite another if they've got a legit chance. They've got to fix up their wing situation, but armed with the MLE and the willingness to pay the tax, they could very well be contenders again next year.

based on what Dwight said recently, it sounds like he doesn't want to follow anybodies' else's path. based on what he said, it sounds like he wants to go to a team that hasn't won a championship in along time, and wants to be the face of that franchise.

if he goes to LA, he will be following Shaq's path, and if he goes to Chicago, he will be behind Rose, cause Rose is the face of that franchise.

Nets and Hawks are still on the list

Hawks have the "hometown" card, "BFF" card, and the "instant contender" card. Dwight and Deron would be a good team, but like the Knicks, it doesn't make them into a contender. i think a Dwight and Deron team would still be behind Miami and Chicago.

Imma sweeten the deal for Orlando here: How about Horford, Hinrich, and the two picks (one of them being lotto) for D12 and a bad deal (Hedo or agent 0). Would that be too much or just right, cause thats my final offer.

I'm not front office but I would do that.

Rumor is that Lakers is willing to give up Bynum, Odom, Blake, and several first rounder. Tough to match. Horford is a great player, but Bynum is the only other center in the league beside Dwight that is unguardable.

Horford > Bynum...... Bynum will be out of the league in 3 years. Horford will end his career with 10,000 rebounds and 15,000 points, and 6 All Star appearances.

Kirk's contract > Odom's contract..... Hawks, Nets, are the only teams that will be able to take on Hedo or Gilbert's contract (Thunder might be able to take on Hedo's contract, but it will take alot of creative financing to make a deal work)

I can't tell if you're an idiot or just a delusional homer. If you really think Horford is better than Bynum than wow there is no helping you.

Ricezilla-

Horford is not as big or physically talented as Bynum. I think most Hawks fans would agree with that. However, Horford has shown that he can stay healthy, he is signed to a long and reasonable deal, and can be a positive lockerroom presence. If Bynum was healthy and mature, I would not trade him for Horford. If Bynum gets traded to a team without a Phil Jackson/Kobe Bryant type motivator, I believe he may struggle with all the pressure. I won't lie, though, it would be tough to turn down Bynum in a trade because of what he could be. Other than Bynum, the Lakers do not have anything to trade a team that isn't going to be an instant contender. If Dwight leaves Orlando, they are a borderline playoff team with either Horford or Bynum.

Very accurate. Bynum is better while on the floor but plays 9 less minutes per game and his career high for Wins is 7.8.

Gerald Wallace's highs are 9 and 11.5

54 games this year? You have to stay on the floor to help your team win.

Horford just has more stamina and production. Lateral move in that even if healthy Bynum might win you 14 games at best. Horford wins u 10-11 with more $ to add "good" players, in a vaccuum (ignoring JJ's contract that is).

The problem with calling someone names like that is, if you lose the argument, then maybe those insults bounce back towards YOU.

Either way, you probably are a guest, so ...

And Bynum may never play an entire season.
He may not be in the NBA when he's 30.

This is a terrible deal for the magic. I know that Howard might request a trade but if he does the competeion between teams to get him will be massive. They can get better than Horford and low picks, it's a horrible deal.

I'm not sure many teams will give up and arm and a leg for Dwight without a new contract.

Yep. I'm a Jazz fan and would give Al Jefferson, Millsap, and Golden State's 2012 first rounder for him, minimum and just the starting offer. That's a better package IMO than Horford and a first that is most likely lower than GS's. It would require a contract extension, though.

Horford has positive trade value, and Bynum has negative trade value

if you can't face the facts, then it is obvious that your are the delusional homer and another novice realgm homer

last four years, Horford played 300 games, and Bynum played 200 games.

you are obviously either delusional or on crack, or both, if you think that is going to play more than 50 games next season, and Bynum's knees are going to get better the older he gets

WOW both Jefferson and Millsap for Dwight!!!!!

and i bet Utah will have no problem in getting Dwight to sign an extension after one season

oh well, i guess ATL could always hope and pray that Dwight would accept a sign and trade for Horford if Dwight refuses to resign and go to the Nets to join Deron with Utah not getting anything in return
