I believe we have five more roster spots to fill. should we fill any of them with undrafted free agents?

I think we should get one of two the two I would get would be David Lighty or Michael Dunigan or Greg Smith. or maybe all three



on second thought,I would just get one and fill the rest of the roster with vets like Tayshaun Prince, Chuck Hayes, T-mac, I still like Redd. if we can affored them. if we can't afford them get one of them and the rest undrafted free agents

I like a lot of the undrafted rookie FA's.

1 Gary Flowers SF- Great athlete cheaper than just signing Damien to vet minimum.

2 Justin Holiday-SG/SF- Good defensive player has a brother in the NBA those guys always seem to find a way to contribute.

3 Scotty Hopson-SG/SF- The guy has some good skills. Good athlete, can make a shot, has defensive tools, turns it over too much but I think he needs a look.

4 David Lighty- SG/SF- Marketed as a defender he was solid in college.

5 Greg Smith- PF- NBA ready body and size overall. I think he deserves a long look. He also still young came out after his sophomore season.

6 Michael Dunigan- PF/C- I looked at some youtube game action and he looks like he play.

7 Rick Jackson- PF- The guy averaged a double double in the Big East he should not be looked over.

8 Demetri McCamey-PG- Averaged 2 to 1 Assist to TO ratio multiple years. Has good size. I think he can be as good as say Eric Maynor. Good 3rd string PG option.

9 Jereme Richmond- SF- Young and immature but has huge upside. Should have stayed in college but nabbing him up at this point would give you a guy that could pay off longterm.

10 Giorgi Shermadini-C- 7"1 foreign prospect we can use size and maybe he is more than a stiff.

11 Matt Howard- PF- If you looking for a guy that may be able to give you energy through hustle every now and then.

12 Ravern Johnson- SG/SF- Knockdown shooter.

The major thing is in past years you could just pick up guys for your summer league squad and if you liked him enough he got a training camp invite, then if you liked him enough through training camp and pre season you may sign him to a deal. I do not know how this offseason will work but we should definitely get some of these guys in for training camp however thats gonna work

I would like to get Shermandini, Hopson, Tavern, & Richmond.

13. Corey Stokes SG - Has an NBA body, he is a sharp shooter. he shoots a high volume of 3s and high percentage. His athleticism is good enough for the NBA and won't make him a liability.

If Richmond could just get his atittude together and learn how to hit a wide open jumpshot then he could potentially be the next Dorrell Wright or Trevor Ariza(small chance). I'd easily take him and send him to the D-League as opposed to these 23/24 year old "projects" the Hawks have been signing for the last 4 years.

I hear we invited Jeremy Hazell to our mini camp this week or next week. He scored well at the college level but he also only made 42% of his shots. I just hope we are not looking for a Jamal Crawford clone some defense from his replacement would be nice

Mccamey, Lighty, and Hazel are names I have seen as potential pick ups. Im good with all of them. Really thinks Scotty Hopson can be a decent guard forward matched with lighty off the bench. I thought mccamey would play for us as undrafted guy and it looks. to be true.. we could have a solid rookie class despite having one pick..

Hazel HELL NO.

I've seen him play @ Seton Hall.

A shooting guard who is incapable of defense but shoots every time down the floor because its the only way he can stay on the floor.

And rookie guards have a harder transition than big men. He won't play and his a worse gunner than Jordan Crawford.

I've never seen Hazell play, but I have similar concerns. He's already 25, and shot a low % at Seton Hall. The Hawks said they were looking for seniors that have at least one NBA skill... and I'm trying to figure out what Hazell's is, unless the Hawks think 'volume scorer' is a skill.

Can anyone tell me how the rest of Seton Hall's offense was? Was Hazell chucking because they didn't have anyone else, and so defenses keyed on him? That's the only hope I have is that he was one of those guys who were chucking b/c that was his role. Even then I'm not sure if he can break out of it.

Not particularly big, strong or athletic, Hazell’s physical attributes definitely leave something to be desired compared with your prototypical shooting guard prospect. He does make up for that though with his terrific scoring instincts, though, being capable of absolutely exploding for a barrage of 3-pointers from time to time.

Hazell is what you would call a volume scorer, as he puts up big numbers while taking a large quantity of shots. Over half of his field goal attempts come from beyond the arc (down from 71% last season), although he does get to the free throw line at a good rate and converts his 2-point attempts fairly efficiently. Hazell rarely turns the ball over but also garners a staggeringly low number of assists, only 5% of his possessions conclude with one, which ranks him dead last amongst all shooting guard prospects in our database last season. To call him a gunner wouldn’t be an insult, it’s an accurate reflection of his style of play.
