76ers may trade Marreese Speights

Q: What do you think of the possibility of the Heat going against the grain and attempting to obtain a center such as Marreese Speights? What do you think it would take to get him? — Carl.

A: Well, the 76ers apparently are looking to move the former University of Florida big man. But, as with all these trade suggestions, consider that the Heat have practically no trade assets, with a pair of future first-round picks still due to the Cavaliers for the LeBron sign-and-trade deal. So, with any trade, the real question is whether it would be worth dealing Haslem or Miller. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_ba ... -wing.html

Any interest?

If you cant guard Dwight (probably cant box out Bogut, Noah etc) your not a center.

What would he have to give up for volume shooting FORWARD M-16 who showed great scoring efficiency as a rookie?

"According to Philly.com, Doug Collins isn’t a fan of his “shoot-first, rebound-second mentality” and they’ll attempt to trade him this offseason."

14.6% WS/48 as a rookie, 16mpg, 80 games played.
What happened?
- Brand came back from injury. with Thad Young there were Less minutes at Forward.
- Dalembert trade, moved him to jump shooting center and defense was even more exposed while defending centers
- unable to defend Cs well his only way to be effective is offense where most centers cant defend his quick shooting release, length and face up athleticism.
- bad to mediocre rebounder. This was his best year rebounding wise in limited minutes...

Primary function: Score,Dunk, Get to the FT line. Try to Alter opposing Power Forwards shots and/or get them in foul trouble.

Yeah and would like the to take Iggy if we could work something out.

Maybe moving Horford to Minny, with them taking back Marvin as well and the Hawks getting Darko & Iggy then sending out 2 future 2nds to both Philly and Minny for Speights and Randolph individually using our TPE's to eat the cost...

Wolves get:Horford & Marvin
Hawks Get: Iggy, Speights, Anthony Randolph, & Darko
Sixers Get: Wes Johnson & Pekovich.

Wolves upgrade their center spot.
Sixers cut a bit of future salary and start fresh with the young guys of Holiday, Turner, & Wes.
Hawks take on future salary, but better equips themselves into a contender.

Reason I say we look more like contenders is we load up on defense and get a facilitator to take pressures off of Joe. Speights & Randolph gives us offense off the bench. Darko gives us a defensive minded center and size(Like a Kendrick Perkins role). Iggy gives us a facilitator and elite defender to place between Joe and Josh. I propose playing him as a 3.

Follow that up with Zaza & future first for Oj Mayo.

1-Teague/Hinrich/Mayo
2-Joe/Mayo/Lighty/Sy
3-Iggy/Joe Alexander/Malcolm Thomas
4-Josh/Randolph/Rolle
5-Darko/Speights/Benson

That's a solid contender.

Darko Nowitzki at center? I thought he'd be near Bogut's level by now. He is a terrible finisher and unathletic.

Horford and Love on the same team? Joe Alexander who's 250 lbs now and has worse energy than Josh?

CCuf that.

P.S. Joe Alexander now looks and moves like the Missing Link/Sasquatch.
P.P.S. he's entrenched/reinvented himself as a 6'8 PF in the D-League.

Marreese Speights is a younger, more athletic Josh Powell. Pass.

It's a pass for me as well. I just wanted to see what you gentlemen thought.

Wait, did I say gentleman?
