Who's gonna watch the Falcons

Since the NFL lockout is over we have an Atlanta team playing this winter, a team poised for a Superbowl run. And with the NBA lockout we don't know if we'll have basketball this year. So who's gonna watch the dirtybirds this year?

I think most guys here are Falcons fans or at least support them. Not sure how they'll do; offensively they're monstrous, but not sure how I feel about them defensively.

I think they'll probably go 11-5 in regular season, and in the playoffs I think they make the NFC Championships.

Re-Sign Clabo and Blalock. Extend Grimes. Trade Snelling. Pay Ray Edwards and Johnathan Joseph/Cromartie. Go win the "Super Bowl".

Offense as stated is monstrous. The defense is suspect if we can't get pressure from both sides and can't cover(a la Green Bay). If Abraham is forcing the QB to rollout to the opposite side or force doubles onto him, then somebody has to generate a better rush. Same can be said about coverage. If Dunta & Brent are on their receivers, then somebody else has to account for the other guys. Personally, I think Grimes is a great nickel corner.

The front office already stated that they are gonna stop the Ray Edwards pursuit and focus on signing the 11 free agents we have, but resigning Grimes (along with the O lineman) should be a top priority. And I don't see us paying corners of that qualitey, our GM likes to spread the money around and not overpay, that's why I can't see us going after Nnamdi. But I do see us making the superbowl with our current roster (and our players resigned) but only if we get a pass rusher on the opposite side of John Abraham.

This thread will eventually be moved to our Realgm Falcons board. We also have a board for the Atlanta Braves and it's becoming more active by the day, so check it out when you have a minute, and take part in some of the baseball discussions.

Anyone upset about this?

Falcons part ways with Jerious Norwood

The Falcons have officially parted ways with running back Jerious Norwood, according to his agent Bus Cook.

“We just talked (to the Falcons) a little bit and he’s got to move on,” Cook said this morning in a phone interview. “Hopefully he can stay healthy.”

Cook said yesterday teams were mostly working on rookie deals and said he had some calls about Norwood, who is hoping to re-sign with another team.

“If he can stay healthy, he is a great player,” Cook said. “I hope it works out for him because he’s an even greater person. You know that.”

Glad to know the blind side is locked down. Falcon have to stay on Ray. Kiwanuka,Babin, & CJ are gone. Of course we probably don't have this problem if we take Matthews over jerry...he has put his Hands in the dirt for GB..

Breaking News: Falcons just signed Ray Edwards!!! This gives us a much needed DE on the opposite side of John Abraham. The contract is 5yrs 30 Million dollars: pretty reasonable.

Ray Edwards: ‘Hopefully, I’m the missing piece’

Falcons defensive end Ray Edwards doesn’t plan to put on his boxing gloves anytime soon.

Now that the lockout is over, and he has signed a five-year contract worth $30 million with the Falcons, Edwards can give up his second sport.

“You never know, but right now I’m focusing on the football season and helping this team get to where we want to go,” Edwards said after practice Saturday. He was a spectator because free agents can’t practice until Thursday, or sooner if the new collective bargaining agreement is ratified before then. http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-falcons-bl ... ing-piece/

Yeah I liked Okoye had he not got signed by Chicago and Carlos Rogers(Still available I think). Even if we get Grimes back, our DB's are still suspect in Nickel, and I hate Moore at SS. Think the guy should add some weight and play as a Will. Dimitroff should have either traded up for Earl Thomas last year or went after Michael Huff in FA.

We need a pass rusher next to "Babs" at the DT position. Tommie Harris would fit IMO if he isn't costly.
