Trade that sheds money....

Bulls take on an outrageous contract of Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams, yet upgrade with the position that is most needed...

Atlanta sheds its terrible contract, while acquiring a top-tier defender in Deng, adding 2 shooting guards to its depth, and giving Horford the ability to play PF...

Then trade Smith + Korver for Anthony Morrow + Johan Petre

5.Asik/Johan
4.Horord
3.Deng/Brewer
2.Morrow/Crawford
1.Teague

Thoughts?

thoughts?

Why on earth would the Hawks do that deal? Trade Smith to his best friend's team who also happens to be a division rival, and the only thing the Hawks get back is a PG who the Hawks shut down in the playoffs and a somewhat decent backup SG.

These trades don't make any sense. We don't need to start from scratch. We have a decent team. I rather watch 1st or 2nd round exits than see them not make playoffs at all.

Would you guys do Johnson for Turk and JJ? Expiring contract (JJ) and aplayer that will be cut

No.
Why set in motion the Magic's demise only to bail them out months later?

Trade that sheds money....

should be renamed "Hawks aren't competing anytime soon, give us your Size because Horford is a 6'10 PF".

Also like how he put JJ, I almost thought JJ was Joe Johnson...

Agreed the last thing we need right now is to give Dwight Howard a reason to stay with Orlando no way

The original proposed deal with the Bulls wouldn't be so bad if you switched out Taj Gibson for Korver. Then, if the Hawks resign Crawford, the loss of Johnson would not be so bad and the team would have depth at every position. Luol Deng had a pretty good all around game type season last year.

Those are Otis Smith type deals. Starting with Crawford

How about Zaza for a 2nd round pick?

Value is better than decent considering that if it's the Raptors pick it might equate to the 31st overall of the deep 2012 draft but I just don't see the Hawks dumping a salary as minuscule as Zaza's for meager cap savings. The team is going to struggle for quality depth over the next two* seasons but after that plenty of space will be available so I doubt it's a move the teams pursues right now.
