After it emerged last week that sale was in jeopardy, Atlanta Hawks announce mutual termination of agreement to sell team to Alex Meruelo.

WOW!! this is just unbelievable. There's no hope for this franchise with the stingy Atlanta Spirit.

UPDATE 4:55 P.M.: The Spirit says its current plan is to hold on to the franchise indefinitely. "The Atlanta Hawks are no longer for sale," Levenson said in a statement. "We're excited to remain as owners of the Hawks and are committed to building on our string of four straight playoff appearances."

I hope Levenson is just saying this and is actually seeking another buyer. Atlanta needs a quality owner and one that is respected, but as long as the Spirit Group owns the team, I doubt the team will receive the support from the fans that it needs.
