I have to mention this new bus system that is available in Atlanta now. It only cost between $1-$5 each way to the surrounding states. If you're located in Northern states it most likely is available to you as well. http://www.megabus.com

The rates vary a bit more than that for other cities, but $8 round trip to Charlotte or Memphis is intriguing. Thanks for sharing the info, it's the first I had heard about it.
