Only assuming, but I expect many of the Western Conference games to be cut out of the new schedule, and for the league to have us face the teams in our division 4 times. The new schedule is most likely a priority because the league will need to have it available asap so fans can purchase tickets.

I saw this one the General Board. Still no answer to your question but it's related to the schedule.

On the compressed season: It will run Dec. 25-April 26. Teams will avg 3.9 games/week, up from usual 3.5/week. About 2 extra games per month

Every team will play at least one back-to-back-to-back set (i.e. 3 straight nights), and up to 3 back-to-back-to-back sets during season.

Teams will play 48 games in-conference (4 fewer than usual) and 18 games out-of-conference. Thus, not all teams will visit all cities.

Also, every second-round playoff series will have at least one back-to-back set, to shorten the playoff time frame.

Unfortunately, the league rejected my suggestion of returning the first round to best-of-5. Something about TV partners and profits.

NBA has not had back-to-back-to-back sets since 1999 lockout season. Before that, it hadn't happened since the 1970s.

Meanwhile, there's a simple option :
4 games against same division teams, and 2 games against all the other teams
4 x 4 = 16
2 x 25 = 50
16 + 50 = 66

Why would it be more complicated ?

I also don't like the fact of not playing some teams, because some would get good teams out of the schedule, and other would get bad teams out.
