I have a feeling, know that GSW has DeAndre Jordan: they may use the amnesty clause on Biedrins. Could the Hawks be waiting on this to happen? I did predict T-mac.

???? I read how the amnesty clause works in principle. Have you? If a player is waived using this amnesty clause ,which is similar to the one in 2005 because a team can cut one player but still have to pay that said player the remainder of their salary but not have that salary affect the team luxury tax. but in 2005 that salary still counted against the cap. 2011 amnesty clause doesn't count against the teams cap at all.

now you go do some research.

if you are talking about salary cap do you know what the cap is set at? I still think we could get him.

We have to wait until every team under the $58 million salary cap decides if they want to put in a bid on him before he is waived and teams like us then come into the picture. There are currently 20 teams under $58 million. If you think 20 teams will pass on him when they can bid the veteran minimum then there is no need in us discussing anything

Biedrins would be a great pickup . I guess this would put the hawks into the luxury tax but for a quality big man i think its worth it

No doubt, I would love to have Biedrins but we are not getting him in a sign and trade. It has been reported that GSW are not involved in talks. I don't know who the 3rd team is but it is not GSW.

His main problem is that he's a bad FT shooter, but remember that he's from 86' like Horford, and that except his two first year without getting lots of minutes, he was good the three following seasons before injuries, even without getting more than 30min/game :

Horford:

Biedrins:

If we look at his production/opponent production on 82games, it seems he never did better than his opponent, but it could still be better than what we had on the bench until this season (especially if you consider he was playing against starting C's).
He had a good on court/off court numbers in 06-07 and 07-08, but strangely not in 08-09 despite having almost the same production/opponent production number, and more point and rebounds with more playing time. It was the year Baron Davis left GSW.
Then came injuries...

He could come from the bench behind Al and Josh, or at C in big lineups, and would definitely be a good addition.
Now, he seems to have more impact the years he played with Baron Davis, looks good at pick-&-rolls, so if we don't have the PG to do it, he would not look like Biedrins of 06-07-08 GSW.

I would start him. He is a great rebounder, good post defender, and very efficient on the pick & roll. I wish he could become expendable.
