Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that the Nets are assembling a "blockbuster" four-team offer for Dwight Howard. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=a ... nba_121311
Dwight Howard won't be an option for us but I am hoping that we're one of the other two teams involved.

Yes, I had came up with a trade that some called foolish in which we got Brook Lopez and the Nets ended up with both Josh and Dwight. The Magic basically got a whole bunch of picks.
Problem is as long as they require Turk to be offloaded in the trade we could not do it. Brook Lopez is a unrestricted free agent this summer. I think Orlando is thinking about that too. They gonna have to pay Lopez between 12-16 million this summer to keep him most likely. Just look at the crazy contracts Centers are getting. So, they probably looking at it like we don't really want him when we compare him to Dwight and we gonna have to invest longterm into him rather quickly like this offseason. A lot of people not seeing that part. I can see them moving him on to someone that has more interest in him.

Josh to Orlando
Dwight to New Jersey
Brook Lopez to Atlanta
works straight up. Like I say Hedo complicates things.

I guess it would depend on how many picks Orlando receives. I just doubt they'd be willing to part with Dwight unless the picks actually have value.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the Portland Trail Blazers have "emerged" as a team involved in Dwight Howard trade talks which would land Howard in New Jersey.
The Trail Blazers would send Gerald Wallace to Orlando, who would join Brook Lopez as the "principal pieces" the Magic would receive in return. The deal would also allow the Magic to shed the contracts of Hedo Turkoglu and Chris Duhon, and it sounds like something is might be brewing on the heels of a report that the Nets were preparing a blockbuster trade. Orlando has a big decision to make about the team's future.

Okay. Really does not make sense for Portland to take Turk over Wallace, considering Wallace is better and has better contract. Has to be something else to it. All I can say is the only real assets the Nets have would be Lopez and Deron Williams. So, the whole blockbuster thing just does not make sense. The NBA may be trying to make sure the move is a success to Brooklyn by giving them some uneven deal if they get something other than Dwight without giving up Deron.

I read it that Portland is just dumping Wallace for picks (must be mighty impressed by Batum's Euroleague dominance) NJ is taking Howard, Turk and Duhon and Orlando is receiving Wallace, Brook, picks and either of Petro, Farmer or Morrow to match the salary of Duhon.

Trade talks have broken down, Dwight staying in Orlando for now.

Re: Nets assembling blockbuster Howard trade offer
Anyone else hoping that Dwight Howard leaves Orlando via free agency next summer with them getting nothing in return (or just a trade exception)? I wouldn't mind Orlando sliding to the bottom of the division for awhile considering the lottery luck they've enjoyed over the years and how dismissive they were of Atlanta in their comments last post-season.

Horford is better than Lopez and will have a far better career. with Bogut, Dwight, Horford, and Noah and McGee in the east, i don't think Lopez will ever make an all star team in his career..... but their is no way the Hawks can take on Hedo's contract.

Nor were we in the list of teams allowed to talk to Dwight early. Means we'd have to come with a big offer to the Magic and hope that Dwight considers signing long term. I don't see it as likely.
The thing I noticed about his selected destinations is that he could make up any lost dollars due the new cba with likely increased advertising opportunities (NY market, LA market, and paired with Mark Cuban) especially Brooklyn because of the owners desire to globalize his property. Also, Dwight's trying hard not to be seen as the bad guy by the fans. It's obvious he doesn't want to end up taking a brand hit like Lebron did, but much like Cleveland, Orlando has taken enough missteps in trying to build around the one star that he legitimately has reason to doubt the future there.

i'm okay with that, just let Josh and Joe work on talking and keeping Dwight. Dwight would be crazy not to resign after Dwight and Josh wins the championship after the first year.
