Keith Bogans Waived

I think this would be a great veteran pickup that can still play.

He could give us some backcourt depth and is a good defender. We don't have a good defender coming off the bench.

He sucks as a starter. Not a guy coming off the bench. he is miles better than Mario West and Damian Wilkins.

The guy far from sucks. He would be great as a defender and someone who can knock down a open 3 off the bench

agreed. No need for T Mac AND Stack together; ASG is not running a retirement house!

After seeing T-Mac and Stack tonite I will be very disappointed if we don't cut one or both and reach out to Bogans.

If Pargo contract is guaranteed, then Stackhouse is already out.
We are almost at the Tax threshold now, including McGrady, but not Stackhouse, and we won't pay Tax for Stackhouse.

For our bench, I wish we could have focused more on hussle guys who can hit the 3 like Mo Evans and Bogans instead of McGrady, Stack, and unproven players.

Solid defensive role player. If he is your backup SG you could do worse.

We already had him on the roster, his name was just Mo Evans then.

Bogans is better than Mo Evans defensively and they both are better than Stack or T-Mac currently

the Rip signing might actually be a case of subtraction by addition.

Bogans was always a thug on defense, and Joe does get bothered by physical defense.

Rip was always the weakest defender on the Pistons, and Joe and Marvin always had a field day on him.

Joe dominated Bogans last year, i think on offense, Joe will destroy the older Rip.

Rip might give the Bulls 15 points, but we might see the old Joe, where he would put up 40 points on guys like Ben Gordon, and Salmons.

Bogans is a solid bench player....but awful as a starter. He can't create is own shot, but he can be a good role player if you need defense and the occasional wide open 3. I would not mind having in back, but we basically drafted a younger version of him in Butler, and we also have Brewer as our bench defender.

--------

As far as Rip vs Joe goes....keep in that Joe (or Wade or Ray Ray or Kobe) can no longer "rest" on defense (the way they would do with Bogans)...and will spend the entire game chasing Rip through a multitude of screens.

The guy I miss more than Bogans is Kurt Thomas.

well, we are going with Willie Green. Better offensively, not sure about defense as he is only 6'3. Maybe can he help at the PG too ala Flip...
Let's hope he will be as good as Flip was for us, as this would cover for some scoring gone with JC1.
Pargo, Vlad, Green and TMac + Sy in another role + Zaza, Collins and alternance between Benson and Rolle...until Kirk is back.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
