I like Johnson...

No, not the one you are thinking of. I really like Ivan Johnson. He is a warrior, an energy guy who thinks team first, brings energy of the bench, has a solid mid-range and reminds me of a combo of Big Baby and Grant Long on the board and defense!
Now I know that there was no "real big" on the other team but I love the way he handled Diop when playing him on D. Real box out!
On a short season like this one, having Collins- Benson, I would pass on Rolle to keep Johnson.
Wanaker , Sy, Rolle out. Keep Johnson (and Sloan until Kirk is back). Sy, Rolle, Benson to D League...or trust that Teague-Pargo- Green can handle the PG and cut Sloan to keep Benson.
Teague- Pargo- Sloan/KH
JJ- TMac- Green
Marvin- Radmanovic-T Mac
Smoothe- Johnson- Radmanovic
Horford- Zaza- Collins/ Benson to D League

Me too. Ivan was a baller, strong rebounder and had some offense moves. Hard nose low dollar contributor type we should have had on the bench for years now.
In other news the Charlotte announcers blow. Hard for me to listen to.

building around Johnson

with NO & ORL
ATL sends Zaza, Kirk (exp 8M), Rolle (exp 1M) and a 2nd to take Okafor salary but...
Okafor goes to ORL with Horford and Green along with 2 future 1st for Dwight and JJ Reddick
ATL:
Teague- Pargo- Sloan
JJ1- T Mac- JJ2
Marvin- Radmanovic- T Mac
Smoothe- I Johnson- Radmanovic
Dwight- Zaza- Collins/Benson Collins/ Benson being injury/ D League

Guess the coaches liked him too. He made the squad. Guess they read your post. Every player you called for got cut.

Benson, Rolle and Sy have been shown the street doors, while we are keeping, at lest for the moment, people like Willie Green, Pargo and Stackhouse. This is ridiculous.
So we get rid of Sy, whom we bought out from France two years ago, and we keep Green, who arrived at the franchise three days ago?
So we get rid of Benson, a 6-11 young guy, who seemed to be a steal in the 2nd round, and keep McGrady, Stackhouse, JJ, Teague, Hinrich, Sloan, Green and Pargo? Eight players for two positions?
The main reason to waive Sy seemed to be that he was not confortable playing the point (did everybody see him playing the point following LD's orders? Or was he always on court with another guy besides him?). So we keep 5/6 players more who can play the two, but we do not keep Sy, although it is just to send him to the D-League?
LD and the sporting staff is taking this team nowhere.

Except for Stack which I hope they are just keeping longer to avoid to have to cut Sy or Benson later...Could those guys could have been traded for at least a second?

Drew needs jump shooters for his offense. That's why Stackhouse and McGrady are probably gonna make it.
I watched Woodson fail to develop players due to the same mindset. Drew'd better be right or our owners will have wasted even more time (and athletes).
To let Billy Knight trash the team for 3 years in order to acquire great draft picks, only to push the talent to the side in favor of veterans who can - temporarily - run the coach's offense, shows a deep failure of management to have and execute a plan. Either develop or play for the now, stop fighting your own plan.
I'd also like to see a coach who can develop youngsters while finding a way for them to contribute immediately: defensive intensity, one offensive move...

Sorry, went on a vent.
About Johnson, I really like his play, as well. However, we need to keep a lid on his anger. That "banned from Korea" thing has me worried.

It would help the hawks to have a sport shrink to support Josh full development, as well as Marvin and now to contain Ivan " the beast" Johnson. Looking back at his stats, the guy is a player and might stick, if he does the right thing...

Also, another reason for Ivan to succeed is that it would prove me wrong for once that the franchise is incapable of picking a successful late 2nd draft or in that case undrafted player... We might have a good one.
I would disagree with Parson on the fact that Stack should be kept because he is a shooter. He has no legs and is done. Even during his run with MIL 2 years ago, his % was quite low.
He might be helpful now to keep the guys focused, including Ivan but long run I would be surprised (and disappointed if he sticks). I was disappointed to see Benson and Sy waived ...but if it means that this gives a real chance to both Ivan and Sloan then I am fine with it...

Sorry. I must have been so mad that I was unclear. I didn't say Stackhouse SHOULD be kept, I said he probably would. I totally agree with your assessment of his remaining skills and I'd add McGrady to the pile of finished players.
