Horford for Dwight Howard with no extension

Atlanta has officially become the team that can offer the Magic the best package for Dwight in all of the NBA.
i would not offer two of the big three of Joe, Josh, and Horford.
i would just start low with Horford for Dwight
i would maybe go as high Horford, Teague, and Kirk for Dwight and Nelson.... but that is a big MAYBE!

I wouldn't offer Horford, Teague, and Kirk. We ofer that and Dwight walks, we are stuck with an extremely unhappy Smith and a highly overpaid JJ then.
If Dwight wants to come to Atlanta then Horford+salary would be more than enough. If not, let him go somewhere else.

you absolutely trade Teague, Horford, and Kirk for Howard without hesitation. just look at it this way which team is more of a a title contender?
teague/ kirk
JJ/ willie green
Mavin/ Tmac
Smith/ Vladimir
Horford/ Zaza
or
Nelson/Pargo
JJ/Willie Green
Marvin/ Tmac
Smith/ Vladimir
Howard/ Zaza

And when Howard walks you are left with Nelson, Smith, and JJ, all of whom are going to be pissed that Howard walked and will likely blame it on the higherups.

Nelson/Pargo
JJ/Willie Green
Smith/ Tmac
Ryan Andersen or Turkoglu/ Vladimir
Howard/ Zaza
I'm sorry you absolutely do that trade. Where would Dwight walk to?
However ATL is D12's home and Playing at Home, everyone asking D12 for tix, talking about the team etc. is probably too much pressure.

why would Howard leave? we would without a doubt get passed the second round, and I believe we would win the East but even if we didn't and Howard did walk. at least you showed Smith and JJ that you are willing to make big boy moves by going after Howard. and for at least this year Phillips would be sold out and maybe the owners would get used to that and make better moves in the future.

D12 is going to be traded.....but ORL has the trump card for now.
No way the Hawks even make an offer; Sund's creativity doesn't reach this level.

I agree with you on that. but here is hoping Mr. Michael Gearon Jr. still reads these forums and forces Sund's hand

you should like a member of the ASG.... "hey lets suck for years and never give a crap about being a contender"
worst case is that Dwight leaves his home town. Hawks can then trade Smith for value and amnesty Joe.
draft Shabazz and rebuild.
but that is only after Dwight and Josh, win the east and NBA championship.

It's an absolutely perfect plan to have no one but Joe on the roster past 2013.

it is an absolutely perfect plan to keep this team like it is and not have a real shot at ever making it pass the 2nd round of the playoffs.
but lets look at this from a business standpoint. with this current team we will never sellout Philips unless Miami or a team like that comes to town. so lets do some quick math.... their is about 18,700 seats in the general admission sections. with this current team we may have about 8,000 people in the stands (that is being generous) that is about 15.9 million for this season becuse there will not be as many home games. now with Howard here I am almost certain that we would be close to 18,700 people at philips. so that will be about 59.5 million for the season. that is 43.5 million more for the season. not to mention the revenue the hawks will get from Dwight Howard jersey sells.

Your premise is faulty because you actually believe this trade has a chance. Teams have offered just as good players along with useless picks in addition to offering to take back a bad Orlando contract yet the Magic haven't budged.
Why is that?
But lo, the homer in you tells you oh Horf beats all of that just like whatever package some of you were peddling for Paul beats anything that exist in the entirety of the NBA universe. Here's a flash, if our players had that high of value we'd be in the championships already without the need for trades.

I didn't say this trade had a chance. I was just saying that if we could we should jump on it without hesitation. but what team has offered players that are just as good as Horford?

I thought the amnesty was just a 1 year thing..maybe I was wrong and you can use it whenever.
Smith would be expiring as well. I doubt we would get a ton in return for an expiring Smith who wants to bolt.
I just don't see that team dominating. I am not a fan of Nelson as our PG as he is purely an offensive player. Players have been saying we need a pure pg for years and this trade makes us a very offensive oriented team. Of course teaming up Dwight with JJ and Josh would be nice, but I also believe we would have to take back someone like Hedo as well. It is just a very risky trade to make when in two years you could easily be left with JJ and other. Very hard to rebuild with that. We would end up like the early 2000s Hawks.
If Dwight really wanted to return to Atlanta then he would have atleast put Atlanta as one of the possible trade destinations.

I understand what you are coming from but at the same time, you sound like ASG right now, content to a second-round Hell. Right now, a decision has to be made, get past the second round or just stay as is and contiune to be the butts of jokes by other folks. I like to have D12 but at the same time, without him saying that he is willing to stay, itis a crap shot.
