Andrew Bogut???
I remember during the Summer there were discussions on this board about Andrew Bogut: The Man was a former first round pick (2005 when we passed up on Paul and got Marvin) and is normally a beast and would be one of the best Centers in the game if not for his Injury Woes, he led the league in Blocks last year and always has double digit rebounds. So the Question is would you trade Al Horford/Josh Smith and maybe take Gooden's contract for Bogut knowing about the injury risks, also who would you trade AL or Josh? If you get him for AL the Hawks then have the best blocking duo in all of Basketball and our Defense gets a serious upgrade. On the other hand if we Trade Josh for him then Al Horford can finally slide into his natural PF position and we become one of the better rebounding teams in the League. A healthy Bogut is better then both AL and Josh but that's the problem, if we trade for him all it takes is that one awkward fall and we're done.

With the injury risks Horford should be enough.
If we get Bogut + Horford I think we have one of the best frontcourts in the league. MIL has no incentive to do that.
If we trade Horford the rebounding and size and defense goes up but for offense you need to bench Marvin at all costs to get better for losing Al.
“He fits that mold,” said Coach Drew the day after news broke of the signing. “He’s a 4 that can really stretch the defense. We did a lot of homework on him. Certainly when you have a 4 that can go out to the 3-point line, it gives you an added weapon. With Joe’s ability to force double-teams to focus on him, having that 4 that can go out there and stretch it… it just gives you an added weapon.”
If its just 1 for 1 Josh for Bogut its a great move.
If its just 1 for 1 Horford for Bogut, and you keep, Marvin in that recipient of double teams role its still a bit undersized and vastly underskilled and a lateral move.
If its just 2-for-1 Horford and a protected pick for Bogut and a stretch 4 prospect like Jon Leuer its a lateral move.

You can't run Smoove/Bogut as a front-court, defenses will just play in and dare them to shoot. Yeah, some games Josh will make them, but in the long run that will end up hurting us. Horford/Bogut, on the other hand, is a great frontcourt, although in both cases you would still need some additional scoring punch from ideally your 3.
Now, maybe if Marvin didn't suck so much...

Horford/Bogut, on the other hand, is a great rebounding frontcourt, and the size might let you get away with Marvin. Josh Smith is a defensive anchor but not a classic one like Bogut. I would do that in a heartbeat. But MIL would not.
Unless Leuer is included I think that would be lateral. But Horford and a pick for Bogut and Jon Leuer for size on defense, stretching the defense. That type of scoring punch is a vast improvement and obviously makes Smiths lack of range an afterthought since he would be slashing all day long.
The offense is built off of (JJ's and Teague's) collapsing the defense so you need a competent perimeter guy like Leuer or Dirk or Ryan Andersen.

You shouldn't need to give up both for bogut. I believe josh smith for bogut would do. This summer the bucks tried to trade bogut for the second pick. They think his wrist and elbow will never heal 100 percent. Last year it affect his scoring and u can tell it was bothering him. The bucks is a defensive team and trading for smith will help them retool there team. I would even give them a 1st round pick just to make the trade go thru. If the hawks picked bogut it would be a great move. Horford will become a full time power forward and they will be ready to compete for a title. Horford is a better player than bogut. The hawks wouldnt trade him for bogut.

I cant see the bucks trading bogut for smith straight up , Who would the bucks start at center ? How about smith and zaza for bogut and gooden ? this gives the hawks the center they need and although i dont like goodens contract he could help the hawks frontline . for the bucks they get a center in zaza although really not a starter and smith plus they get out of the gooden contract . the hawks may have to add a pick but when healthy bogut is one of the best centers in the nba so i think its worth it

We'd have to do that. However, MIL fans tell me they hate Josh Smith because of something he said about living in Milwaukee.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

The Trade isn't Smith and Al for Bogut, I meant Josh OR Al for him, and I don't know about the first rounder we've given up enough of those and Bogut is still an injury risk. I would definatley give them Josh and Zaza for Bogut and Gooden tho. And if their shopping Andrew then I'm all the more optimistic about this happening.

He’s a 7 footer that can stretch the defense. Pick and fade. Pick and pop. Seems to have some post moves.
I think Sanders, Ilyasova and Gooden are owed more than him.
So we get him to replace Marvin whos a nonfactor on offense. You can always count on a 7 footer able to shoot over the defense when Joe collapses.
When you have a tall guy that can go out to the 3-point line, it gives you an added weapon. With Joe’s ability to force double-teams to focus on him, having that 4 that can go out there and stretch it… it lets Smith play inside .
Leuer's strength is he's ready to play but his problem is he needs to get stronger on defense. But Bogut and Smith in our schemes can cover that.

Ruhiel is right. I dot understand why some people say Bogut cannot shoot. Of course he can.
So pairing him with Smith would bring us the same problems we already have, but Bogut can defend centers better than Al can, also he blocks much more shots.
Bogut for Smith would be great. At last some equilibrium in our game. No one grabbing the rebound and running like a chicken without its head and losing the ball at mid court, thus providing the opposing team with many options to run.
When I read about Smith getting slimmer, getting focused, having worked in his game this summer, I thought we would really find a new player. Now I see this is all the same again. Him shooting a lot, him having not improved his accuracy at all, him selecting a bad tempo for the rest of the team.
But may be we firstly need to decide which tempo we want to play into. It is difficult to share the same style of play with Teague and JJ, with Smith and Horford.

^ The problem is everyone else sees that problem as well.
Marvin+ Horford + Bogut is not happening for just Smith's near expiring for several reasons.
Josh Smith/Jon Leuer/Andrew Bogut is what I said would be an improvement because in the long run (and sadly short run) it improves us because starting Jon Leuer next to Smith and Bogut brings more to the table than starting Marvin.
That is a more clever trade than the predictable Smith for Bogut that should more than close the gap size and rebounding and shooting wise. Instead of getting rid of players for flaws you can cover for them. Leuer compliments Smith and JJ. Marvin can give you 5ppg 12mpg off of the bench.

Re: Andrew Bogut???
If Ivan Johnson proved that he is worthy of 24 minutes of defense, rebounds and intensity, then some other combinations would be good for us. We even could give up our two frontcourt players for a player like Howard. But usually, when one trades a player like Howard, one wants another center in return. So I just see Howard going to NJN, LAL or someplace like that, because I am sure he wants to leave Orlando in a good situation.
Howard could share the court with Marvin and Johnson. But, I do not why, whatever combination the Magic have tried to surround Howard, it has not worked. Bass, Anderson, Turkoglu, Lewis, now Davis also., Howard eats so much space and importance, and not always for good results, that he makes all the team depend on him, then nothing good happens.
So, centering aroud Bogut, I feel an offer of Horford or Smith, plus another player, for him and another player, should work. But also I do not see the point for the Bucks. 7 footers do not come out easily. May be we can wait and try to get somebody in the draft, but LD will always find some defficiences in him.
It is a pity that we are one of the very few teams in the league which can offer more or less sufficient talent for a star, yet it is three years already to change something. Trading one or two good players would leave us still with a good roster (may be even a more compensate roster) and probably would not jeopardize our future in the draft.

Horford > Bogut
Smoove > Bogut
even if the Bucks can be lucky enough to either get Horford or Smith, a PF doesn't help them.
Bogut's offense is so inept that he is a poor man's Mutombo

I think Either Bogut or Smith can hit enough from 10-15 ft to be fine. The point really is the inside game,D,rebounds. If the Bucks deal Bogut...it's Horford..not Smith they need because they'd need Horford at C.

Bogut had a solid performance tonight. It's good to see him bounce back from the injury but I hope he stays healthy this season. I personally think we have almost no chance at acquiring him.

sell high, buy low. I told you guys... I almost hope he gets injured - not too seriously of course! - 1) MIL stops dreaming of playoffs 2) he becomes available 3) we trade for him 4) healthy in time for playoffs.
Rotoworld says he played 37 minutes. He cannot carry the team and in ATL with Zaza's 16 -18 minutes Bogut would play what, 30 minutes until the playoffs where he's fresh?
Reportedly Skiles still thinks he can carry the team but come on... only Dwight could carry that team. 37mpg... he'll become available soon enough. I hope.
In other news..
The Hawks have always weighed the merits of keeping, or moving, Smith and Horford. Both are tweeners. Horford is undersized at center but doesn't have a face-the-basket game for power forward. Smith has crazy athleticism and skills for someone 6-foot-10 but too often falls in love with 20-foot jumpers. Both are in their primes, so holding onto them much longer would hurt their trade value.

I am all for Bogut. I would not mine if the Bucks look horrible to the point where they have a firesale, but Bogut is not coming within our price range because he is not worth Josh or Al and I doubt if they want Joe's contract. Sorry, I will pass unless they take Marvin, Zaza and 2 1st rd picks.

I would trade Josh Smith so fast it'd make your head spin - and I love Smith. But our team would make sense with Bogut.
Of course, if MIL would take someone other than Horford or Smith, I'd be all over that, as well.
