If I'd told you our 3 best players would start so badly ...

... would you believe how good we've looked?
Joe's numbers are 14.5 pts on .407 shooting with 2.5 assists.
Josh's are 10.0 pts on a pitiful .389 shooting with only 3.5 assists and 8.0 rebounds. His big thing, shot blocks, is only 1.50.
Horford's are 9.5 pts., .533 from the field (okay, that's not so bad) but only 7.0 rebounds.
Marvelous is playing well, Teague's a budding star and our bench has been a very pleasant surprise.

I really wasnt sure about teague coming ino the season , but now i'm starting to believe he's the real deal . he was a big reason for tonights win . if he and williams continue to play the way they have i have no doubt joe and al will start putting up bigger numbers ( joe played well tonight ) this team has a shot at being really good . if around the trade deadline we can add a big man who knows maybe this team can compete with the heat and bulls .

I wouldn't say their playing badly. This is what it looks like to have a deep, balanced VETERAN team. No need to lean on a single player through such woeful competition.
Also, most of the big three are averaging less than 30 minutes per game.

oh boy, just sounds like complaining with no good point, a very useless post
as Jamaaliver mentioned and what 99% of Hawks fan know, the Hawks have a DEEP BENCH!
Joe, Horford, and Smoove are averaging less then 30 min per game, and in this fast pace season, that is greatly valuable for the team, and smart on the part of Drew.
Josh efficiency rating:
19 PER this year
19 PER last year
Joe's efficiency rating:
16 PER this year
16 PER last year
Horford efficiency rating:
21 PER this year
20 PER last year

agreed, much more balanced bench. Our next biggest concern: resigning Teague...

May all my critics be as bright and polite as you. And thank you for stopping by to comment on my "very useless" thoughts.
However, what does a deep bench have to do with Joe shooting
42.5% from the field when he shot
44.3% last year (after surgery?) with
half of his normal rebounds or assists or steals ...
... or Smith shooting
39.3% from the field when he shot
47.7% last year with
fewer rebounds,
half as many steals and the
worst shot blocking average of his career ...
.... or Horford shooting
52.2% from the field when he shot
55.7% last year with more than
3 fewer rebounds per game than he's ever done before?

i,d say Billy Knights tweener group has peaked, marv smith and yes Al Tebow. JJ is a 2nd option more than ever, Marv is still an a klutz who shies from iso Smith is still undersized garbage scorer with little range and Al still has less finesse than a moose on meth! When do we play WAS or NJN next?We need our false sense of achievement back ASAP!

Vince Lombardi, “Fatigue makes cowards of us all”.
As I said on another thread, I think we'll see this - from time to time - all season, but especially at the end of back-to-backs when we're on the other guys' court.

Great quote but I'm not buying it. This is the teams identity. Lucky the Rockets play out East.
Smith is horrible in iso situations, yet has a chance to beat his slower man if they play him the wrong way so he gets the ball. Foul or jack up a shot.
Horford, was 6 for 11 but only 4 FTA on 11 shots. The team does not trust him or his post game to change the flow of the game.
Horford would post up and he'd score and then somebody hit a 3 pointer the other way at least twice.
Teague with Marvin reverting and no splacing outside came back down to Earth as an underdeveloped slasher.
Budinger was quicker than Marvin. ON DEFENSE. He made Marvin drive and then fumble a shot.
Also on defense Joe was outquicked by KMart. Smith, the 6'8 220 lb, guy tasked with protecting the rim, had a man who played away from the rim and instead of placing him at the SF where he could double down and help, they played their best shotblocker on the perimeter scorer Scola, Scola waltz in on Horford and shot over the smaller Smith continually while the starting SF Marvin Williams watched. Smith ended up with 1 block.
Marvin looked like a PF tweener, again. Budinger consistently outquicked him. Smith, a guy who *should get 0 touches outside of PnR, and offensive boards at SF yet must have had close to 30 touches last night, with his man clearly playing off of him goading him into shooting, kept getting the ball because of untrustworthy FT drawing teammates as alternatives.
*Smith should be on the wing (the SF) in transition but is instead the trailer (the PF)
* Smith is a tweener and lucky that Houston's roster plays out West.
On to the Heat!
Horford 6 for 11. Smith 4 for 12.
