Josh Smith WANTS to be traded!!!!!!

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Thu Mar 8, 2012 8:41 pm

According to Michael Cunningham of the AJC.

Hooray! I wish him well. I really do. But this is a breakup that is long overdue.

I'd do this, but IDK if GSW wants to on Joe's contract

We would easily be the worse defensive team in the NBA.

I wish Phoenix could make an offer but we don't have anything to offer outside Gortat(unless Channing Frye, Robin Lopez, Jared Dudley and Hakim Warrick sound magical to you), and I don't think we'd trade him for Smoove.

Robin Lopez and MAYBE dudely are the only guys I could see the Hawks wanting AND phoenix being willing to trade. I am not so sure the Suns would trade Dudley.

I personally would take a stab at Morris, Dudely and Lopez...with Redd thrown in for Josh. But thats kinda a dumb trade for phoenix and everyone is getting paid too little money to add Marvin or Hinrich and have the salaries matchup.

Let's see, we were already faced with losing him in 2013 because of Joe's contract and any desire he'd have to bandwagon and the team has had him on the block but refusing anything but AAA prospects/super stars. Now he's gone out and demanded a trade pretty much tanking whatever value or leverage the team would have had. Ah well. My crystal ball has proven fortuitous so far.

The Way Smith has been playing we'd decline Smith for Gortat.

What are your thoughts on dealing Smith for expiring contracts and rookie-scale guys? Boston has several of each. Take Smith's 12 million dollar salary off the payroll and you have about 12 million in cap room for a good small forward or a real center..

Niether of which would be better than Josh. Thats the problem. What you need is to trade him to a bad team with a really good player. Like Al Jefferson(who I REALLY want on this team)

Great! I'm glad he wants a trade.. I wish he would go to Portland so him and LMA can become the best young frontcourt tandem in the league..

No the Hawks wouldn't because guess what? He's pretty much Dwighted us killing trade leverage. The team would jump at a good player on a great contract at a position of need.

Only way he's moved for an expiring is if Marvin is attached.

I would not mine trading him at all but this is kinda silly. If you keep saying you want to be traded and there is never really a big name out there that a team will trade for you then you are just killing your own value. I mean just look the best 2PG's in the league have been traded within the time frame that this mess has been going all, but could just have fetched us either Paul or Williams without extra's? No. Can he even fetch us Carmelo or Granger? That's a good question. Can he fetch us Hibbert, Lopez, or McGee? That's a good question. I have always heard he could get us a lottery pick and some lessor player to make the trade work financially. There are very few players in this draft that could help us to the extinct that giving up Smith is worth it, but I am tired of hearing this. Josh is not some star worth this much hassle if this is all true.

The Pacers would make a play for him. Maybe Granger for him or Dwest and a first round pick.

The Nets are trying to preserve cap room for Howard in the summer if there is no trade pre deadline but I'd love Billy King to look at trading for Smith using Lopez and some of our contracts that we need off our books to make sure we have the cap room for Howard.

This would only be last minute but in theory, from the Hawks point of view would you guys trade Smith for Lopez plus filler like Farmar, Petro etc to make the deal work?

Would mean Horford could play the 4 with Lopez starting centre. Personally I think it makes to much sense for both clubs but doubt it happens due to the fact Lopez wasnt available in any Melo trade talk or D Will. Smith and Williams with cap room for Howard would be perfect for the Nets while Lopez/Horford front court is very nice for the Hawks.

Just wanted to get Hawk's fans opinions really because I think Josh Smith's 15% trade kicker is a major problem in any real trade with us looking to maintain cap room.

No friction between Josh or any of his teammates. Feels organization is not serious about winning a title.
