it is hard being a Atlanta sports fan
Man watching all these teams making moves and the Hawks doing nothing is hard to take. I promise is this team has the same core of players next year I will not follow them.
and that will hurt me because I love Atlanta. but I will not take it anymore. I want to see a better product.

As long as Josh Smith is on the team you will pucker up. Camby was feasible. Nene and McGee where available and we do nothing.

I do like Josh Smith, but I want a change. I don't care who gets moved. However, I would prefer Horford and Teague being moved. You are the one who hates Josh Smith and really don't care if the Hawks win or not you only want Horford and Teague to play well.

For me it's hard to be a HAWKS fan right now, with the whole giving Joe the massive contract killed me. The Braves and Falcons on the other hand have great GMs and are contending in their respective sports. I'm just happy I have something to fall back on sports wise when the Hawks become unbearable to watch.

How are the Braves and/or Falcons better than the Hawks? Sure i like Arther Blanks but as far as wins and losses. The Hawks are actually better than the Falcons and the Braves the last three or four years.

Re: it is hard being a Atlanta sports fan
The Braves are not a better team and do not have better management than the Hawks they are both horrible. Braves did nothing with a team that had possibly the most epic collapse in league history last year this offseason but wish upon a star. Sounds a lot like the Hawks but a little worse. Atleast the Hawks make the playoffs.
As for me only wanting Teague and Horford to play well that is false. As for me disliking Josh that is false. As for me thinking that Horford needs to be the guy for us to ever win a title that is true. As for me thinking Teague could be a big difference maker even if he is eventually sent back to the bench that is true. As for me thinking Joe is not a #1 option that is true. As for me thinking Josh is not a #1 through #3 option for a truly contending team but thinks he is a one and me hating his personality and demeanor on the court that is true. As for my preference being that Joe is traded first that is true, but if he can't be traded my preference would be offload Josh and attach Marvin to him, get a lotto pick and extras.

Nobody said anything about the past 3 years what matters is that they'll be in contention for the next few years if not next year. The Braves have 6 great young pitching prospects, 3 top class ones, 4 if Gilmarth pans out. They also have great young players like Heyward, Hanson, and Beachy. As for the Falcons they won 13 wins out of 16 last year 10 out of 16 this year and have a great core with a franchise QB (Matt Ryan) a great RB (Michael Turner) and 2 great WRs one of them a pro bowler one of them with limitless potential (Roddy White and Julio Jones) So yea the Falcons and Braves both have futures.

Please the Falcons have no future with Ryan's overrated butt. Make the playoffs exit 1st rd is there ceiling. Hawks are better than that. Braves have no future as long as they continue to ruin young outfielders.

superiorblogman I can't believe I am agreeing with you. I think the Falcons could do something though. they just need to get either a better running back and offensive line or get a better QB. Matt Ryan is ok but he is not one of the elite QB's. the Braves........ LOL what have they won lately?..... not a damn thang. you know you will be saying "Nobody said anything about the past 3 years what matters is that they'll be in contention for the next few years if not next year. ---------
Al Horford instinctively stiffened as Kevin Garnett strode purposefully toward him. It was habit, really. Usually when KG is coming for him, it promises to be antagonistic, unnerving and potentially humiliating
"We've gone at it back and forth," Horford said. "He says stuff you can't print. Mostly, he's letting me know that he runs things, that he [Garnett] is the man.
"That's him. You can't take it to heart. A lot of guys get caught up in it. Yeah, he gets you mad sometimes. He can get the best of you. But you have to deal with it."
Last Friday morning, as KG approached the 24-year old Atlanta Hawks big man, neither Horford nor Garnett was in uniform. They had gathered for a meeting of Eastern Conference All-Stars, and Garnett reached out to Horford, offered his hand and asked him how his trip was.
"He was so nice," Horford marveled. "Completely different. But that's because I'm on his side now."
Charles Barkley said:
“I can’t stand to watch this Atlanta Hawks team play,” Barkley says during the clip. “They got nothing but a bunch of nice guys.”
Paul Pierce said:
"Kevin does the sorts of things [Dennis] Rodman used to do, that Ron Artest does," Pierce explained. "All the great defenders do little things to get under your skin."
Garnett is unapologetic regarding his approach. He is not concerned with the mindset of others, he explained, only his own preparation.
Gregg Popovich said:
"KG is unique in that regard. It's important to his game to get himself pumped up, to make sure when he steps on the court that it is the most important thing in his life for 48 minutes. He might be the best at it. Maybe it's a function of my age, but I kind of like it....Any coach would love a player as focused as Kevin."
Doc Rivers said:
I love him, I love watching him. I was just telling someone, of all the All-Stars, coaching the All-Star team, he was hands down-it was't even close-my favorite guy. Just the way he carries himself.
Doc Rivers said Horford told him:
He made a comment to me, ‘Coach, don't worry about playing me, I just want to play one stint. This is about the stars.' And I said, ‘You know, you're one of those guys.' Man he's so unassuming-and you knew it was for real."
"It was the only time in my lifetime I've ever sat down with players alone and just sort of talked about stuff, and everyone back then was like, 'Josh is the key (to the team),' " Gearon said of Smith, a six-year veteran who is 24 but was just 21 entering the month those comments were made. "Even then, people were like, 'He's the key.' He does different things. The intensity rises for the whole team. It was interesting to hear that even back then.''There's no disagreement from Horford.
"When Josh plays like that, we're at our best'' Horford said after Tuesday's game. "We're going to go as far (in the playoffs) as Josh Smith takes us.''
Al Horford...is not "the man" and never will be. Good Luck netting "the man" in Free Agency & the draft.

Teams look suspect with all the Atlanta teams at the present time.
As a season ticket holder, I see nothing positive with the Falcons happening, the Braves look terrible this spring, and the Hawks, well we know how the ownership is.
I agree with Superiorblogman about the Falcons and Matt Ryan.

I haven't followed them all season, not 1 game. I'm not giving that POS ownership any money or time. I just wish more fans do the same thing so they would lose money and be forced to sell.

Yes, you are joke to me. Come around admitting to not watching the team all season but you know that the Falcons are greater.

Re: it is hard being a Atlanta sports fan
I'd rather watch the Falcons/Braves than the Hawks. The falcons have been knocked out in the first round the past few years but whoever knocked us out eventually went to the SB, way too much hate against Matt Ryan on this board, he sped up the rebuilding process light years for the Falcons and just because he hasn't won anything yet doesn't mean anything, he's only 26 for crying out loud, Favre didn't win anything at first, neither did Rodgers, Brees, or Manning, the only exception is Tom Brady and he was put into a great situation when Drew Bledsoe went down for New England. As for the Braves last year they did have an epic collapse but so much went into it; Hanson and Jurjjens our 2 best pitchers were hurt throughout all of September, Uggla hit .172 throughout the first half of the season which he won't do, and also Heyward was dealing with a nagging shoulder injury throughout all of last season which I think he got fixed.

Just spreading a fact here. No need to be butt hurt. Falcons > Hawks, NFL > NBA. Live with it, deal with it.

Re: it is hard being a Atlanta sports fan
The Hawks seem to always build a nice mid range team that goes nowhere and then keep the basic same core for 5 years until there is beyond a shadow of a doubt that group of players can't take them to the finals. They did it before in the late 90's and its funny to me that they are doing something similar now by keeping the same core for so long with minimal changes
From Basically 1995-1999 these were their main starters each year excluding Mutombo who joined in the Summer of 1996.
Mutombo
Laettner/Henderson
Corbin
Smith
Blaylock
If u look at the team they basically had the best defensive center in the league Mutombo which was suppose to take the team to the next level. The problem wasn't him, it is that Blaylock was a steady, but nothing special PG who was rapidly aging. Steve Smith was a talented shooter who had a good attitude. He however didn't have the passion of a true leader in crunch time. Corbin got lucky and found a niche with Lenny Wikens despite being old and being the worst starting 3 in the league for years. They eventually got Laphonso Ellis but even he was sorta washed up by the time he got to Atlanta. Laettner was always soft and made dumb mistakes but they basically got him for Andrew Lang who was less talented overall. Hindu eventually turned out to be good, but by that time, the Hawks were ready to rebuild. This sounds very familiar to the situation on our team now.
Basically what I am saying is that the Hawks usually have one special player surrounded by other players who will never elevate their game to the level needed for a deep playoffs push. Management doesn't wanna rebuild, but all they need to do is swap out their young pieces for different young pieces and try to find championship caliber chemistry, the same thing the Hawks of the late 90's should have done but waited too late to do and caused a long painful rebuilding process for Atlanta fans including putting people like Bob Sura and Pryzbillia on the floor getting heavy minutes.

the problem with the Hawks is that, in all the Hawks' history, we never had the #1 pick EVER!
while other teams have had multiple #1 picks, Magic, Spurs, Bucks, Bulls, etc.
stars, the are majority of the time are drafted and not traded for.
Hawks did mess up with Marvin Williams, but still, it remains true, that the Hawks have NEVER had a #1 pick. so with that said, the Hawks have always been impressive in building elite teams with never drafting a star.
give the Hawks one chance to draft a franchise player like Shaq, Webber, or Dwight, and then lets see them build a dynasty.
