Rajon Rondo slapped with one-game suspension

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Apr 30, 2012 10:50 pm

Rajon Rondo has been suspended for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Hawks.
It's a well-deserved ban after Rondo clearly lost his cool and bumped official Marc Davis while arguing a call late in Game 1. Additionally, Rondo also has a history here as he got a two-game ban for throwing a ball at ref in late February. With Ray Allen (ankle) looking doubtful, the Celtics' backcourt will feature Avery Bradley, Mickael Pietrus and Keyon Dooling Tuesday. Rondo will be back for Game 3. Source: A. Good job by the league. Glad to see they weren't swayed by the "I tripped" excuse. Almost as bad as Caleb King's "He just fell and that's how he got his face beat up".

Though it does worry me. The Celtics will come out with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove.

We're still without Zaza and Al, so I'm hopeful the team won't see this as a chance to rest. If I'm with the coaching staff I go out of my way to point out that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are going to try to make up for Rondo being out because that is what great players do. Joe and Josh have to match them, but then the real key will be Jeff and Kirk. We'll have the better backcourt on paper, now we need to show it on the court and take advantage of where we have a perceived advantage. If those things happen we'll win.

Also keeping pushing it. How many 40 minute games does KG's leg have in them?

If the team EVER looked at a playoff game as a time to rest, then that would just prove they don't deserve to be here. Don't worry about the intensity, this is the playoffs. They will come out and be even more aggressive, and if the Celtics try to put Dooling on Teague, Jeff will have a 20pt/10ast night.
Hawks will roll tonight as long as Collins can continue to play solid D on Garnett and the rest of the D swarms to Pierce and Garnett since they are the only ones now who can create.
