Josh Smith has a sprained patella ligament in his left knee, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
He was able to walk out of the arena under his own power after Tuesday's Game 2 loss and will have an MRI on Wednesday. Consider him questionable for Friday's Game 3 at Boston, and look for Marvin Williams, Ivan Johnson and Tracy McGrady to all see bigger roles if Smith is out.

Gotta be extra careful with the sprain because he probably has a lot of wear and tear regardless from playing every game this season. Fitting that our Achilles heel of lack of frontcourt depth has become our......Achilles heel.

As of this post the RealGM headline says that Josh Smith has a stained left tendon. Not sure what it is stained with but that can't be good.
I think sit Josh in game 3 and put all the hopes on him being healthy for game 4. Hate putting all the eggs in the game 4 basket, but if the Hawks can get a split in Boston the series is brand new.

I think Josh will try his hardest to play in game three. The medical will be the ones that stop him if anyone does. He has a great deal of heart and sitting won't be easy for him.

Time for Al Horford to put a brace on his f'ing shoulder and come to play.

Even if he did, I don't think he would be even remotely effective. His timing and game condition would be horrible. Now Zaza on the other hand would be nice to see out there battling.

Update:
Josh Smith hasn't tried to run on his troublesome left knee yet.
Smith sat out Thursday's practice. He plans on testing the knee in Friday morning's shootaround and then making a decision on his status. A source has told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Smith is doubtful for Game 3, but is likely to return for Game 4. He's dealing with petellar tendonitis, but no structural damage.
